If you like a "bit different" progressive league this one might be for you. Give it a chance.

Classic 16 progressive

This will be a 16 team league, made up of the original 16 major league franchises, as they existed before the 1961 expansion. .

Franchise names and ballparks will be the same as they were in real life and franchise moves will mirror their real life counterparts.

Each league will be broken up into two four team divisions.

There will be no interleague play.

No DH (AL may implement DH in 1973)

Two drafted AAA players (optional), expanding to four in 1962.

Inter-league trading is allowed, and picks for the next two drafts may be traded.

Players must play in positions they are graded for ONLY. Violation of this rule could result in draft penalties per Commissioner discretion.

NO CAP

Inaugural Draft

In an initial franchise draft, with a randomized draft order, owners will select their franchise.

Prior to the player draft, each team will submit a keeper list of up to 15 players, including any player who was in the sim for their franchise in 1960, with multi-team players going to the last team they played for in 1960. All non-protected 1961 players will be available to draft. Each owner will draft at least ten players in the inaugural draft.

In the player draft, order will be based on 1960 record and will be a straight format draft (1-16, 1-16, etc.)

In round one only, the four teams with the worst record in 1960 (A’s, Phillies, Cubs, and Red Sox) will each receive one supplemental pick at the end of the round. The four teams will be randomized to determine selection order.

There will be one additional round to select up to two AAA players per team. This is optional, however, do keep in mind that sim-generated AAA players may not be used in league play and cannot be used in trades.

Future Drafts

For future drafts, teams will be placed in W-L order and then broken into four groups of four, each being randomized to generate the draft order for round 1. Rounds 2 and on will be in straight 1-16 order.

TIEBREAKER RULE: Tiebreaker #1 is record vs. division, better record gets the better slot. Tiebreaker #2 is run differential, better RD gets the better slot. Tiebreaker #3 is a coin toss by commish (or another un-conflicted owner should commish's team be included).

Starting with 1962, teams can submit keeper lists of up to 20 players. Each team will draft at least five players each season.

There will be two additional rounds to select up to two AAA players per team per round (four total). This is optional, however, do keep in mind that sim-generated AAA players may not be used in league play and cannot be used in trades.

Future Franchise Rookie Rule

In future seasons, franchises will have the opportunity to claim any rookie that makes their first WIS appearance for their team, however, if they do, they forfeit their first round pick in that season’s draft AND the following year’s draft. So, for example, if our Reds owner claims Pete Rose prior to the 1963 draft, they will not have another first round pick until 1965. You cannot claim a rookie from the second season of your forfeit so make sure there isn’t another rookie of greater value to you in the next season. For example, if our 1974 Red Sox owner claims Jim Rice, they will not be able to claim Fred Lynn in 1975. Teams may only select one franchise rookie at a time.
