With 8 teams in the Top 31 RPI, and 9 in the top 53, this is the toughest season yet for the Heartland Conference.
Our lead over the #2 conference, Ohio Athletic, is greater than the difference between the #2 and #28 conferences!

Well. I'm supremely happy to see that we have a new thread and supremely happy to be watching the resurrection of the Mighty Young Joes.

I'm having a hard time trying to grasp how good this conference is.
when i look at those rpi numbers, im like "huh?"
its just crazy.
and the worst part is tht i know that the sunyac, deep down inside (very deep), has the ability to go toe to to with the supremes. dont laugh. i hear you laughing.
seriously. watch out for the sunyac. not this year, or next year. and maybe not five years from now or even ten.
but one day the sunyac will rise to our rightful spot atop ibD3 and heartland and others will bow to our majesty and stand in awe of our mighty powers.

On behalf of the Heartland Coaches, we accept your praise and promise to have our grandchildren keep an eye out for the rise of the sunyac.
It's good to be a member of the Supreme Courters.

hey dave, maybe you should worry about keeping SUNY a top 10 conference season after season before trying to be #1.
1/2/2007 10:10 AM
actually kel, we are working on consistently being in the top25 and we are doing a fairly dam good job of that, thank you.
by the way kel, i am washington's biggest fan right now as any wins you can muster only serve to help our sos. in particular, we wouldnt mind seeing you beat the skiddies
1/2/2007 11:32 AM
i wouldn't mind seeing that myself but i severly doubt it happens
1/2/2007 1:19 PM
It's even better...10 teams in the Top 64 RPI with 5 South teams in the Top 29. There's no way we can all qualify for the tournament. We keep beating each other up too much. But all 10 teams certainly deserve consideration!

this is almost comical!
how can a conference be this good?
twothrid of the way through the reg season and you guys have 8 teams looking verygood for NT bids? thats sick.
plus there are two more that ar enot completely out of it.
al, hwat is the alltime record in HD for NT bids form one conference?
what's the D3 record?
heres a sad note... if washington or oneotna were in this conference, we'd be the 11th best team.

I've never seen a DII or DIII conference get more than 6 teams into the tournament. I'm sure one of the major DI conferences has gotten more, though.

A few seasons ago, Heartland had 4 teams from the South Division get in. That's difficult, too, since they play each other so many times.

al, are you losing games on purpose to help your conference-mate's rpi?
1/5/2007 1:34 PM
geez, al... i hadnt even noticed that you are 7-10.... with rpi25??!!!!
I know i saw a couple of threads lately about " has a team with a losing record ever got into the NT?"
do you know if any have , al?
how would you fell about your chances if your rpi stayed in the 20's but you were still below .500?

I could be wrong but I believe Hanover made it a couple of seasons ago with a losing record.

If I had a losing record, I'd decline the invitation to the NT. Yeah, right! LOL

I think if my RPI stays in the 30's, I'd still get an at-large bid. But if I'm in the 40's, I'll more likely be in the PIT
