Game 10: Tim Raines and Rich Gedman each homers and drives in three runs to back Frank Viola, who improves to 2-0 with a 9-1 win in Atlanta.

Game 11: Leading 4-3, Milwaukee scores an insurance run in the ninth, but it's not enough. Rich Gossage allows four consecutive singles to start the ninth and Georgia Force ties it. Six innings go by without another score until the 16th, when Bill Schroeder leads off the Milwaukee half of the inning with a home run. Dennis Burtt throws only nine pitches to retire the side in order in the bottom half, clinching a 6-5 win.

Game 12: The Riders hit five doubles and get good pitching from the bullpen to top Atlanta 7-2, completing a sweep.

The Riders return home to face the New York Mammoths.

Game 13: Mike Smithson gets shelled again, putting the team down 7-0 after two innings. The Riders rally somewhat, but never really get close, losing 12-8.

Game 14: The Mammoths unleash their powerful offense again, pounding out 19 hits and getting seven great innings from Charlie Leibrandt in an 11-1 rout of Milwaukee.

Game 15: For the third straight game, New York puts a double-digit number in the runs column, whipping the Riders 13-3. Britt Burns takes the brunt of the damage in this one.

The Riders host Cleveland next.

Game 16: Anhdy Van Slyke ties the game in the ninth with a two-run homer off Kent Tekulve, and Mike Marshall singles home the winning run three batters later as the Riders bounce back from the New York series to beat Cleveland, 8-7.

Game 17: Cleveland scores five times in the first as Mike Smithson takes another shelling, then adds five more in the fifth on the way to a 12-2 rout of the Riders.

Game 18: Frank Viola pitches seven strong innings and the Riders get home runs from Bill Schroeder and Andy Van Slyke to beat Cleveland 5-1.

The team heads to Washington next to face the Commandos.

Game 19: Britt Burns strikes out eight in seven innings and wins his second game of the season as the Riders outscore Washington 8-2.

Game 20: Milwaukee scores three times in the ninth to erase a 2-0 deficit, but Rich Gossage blows the save, allowing a run in the bottom half on a leadoff double, bad pickoff attempt, and sacrifice fly. Bill Madlock gives him a second chance, driving home a run in the 10th, and Gossage comes through, holding the Commandos off the board for a 4-3 Milwaukee win.

Game 21: Mike Smithson takes another beating and Washington's Dwight Gooden throws seven 1-hit innings, striking out 12, as the Commandos roll to a 12-1 victory.

The  Riders return home to face the division leading Chicago Goats.

Game 22: The Goats extend their division lead to two games with a series-opening 16-4 blowout of the Riders. Frank Viola takes the loss; Floyd Bannister gets his first win for Chicago.

Game 23: Brian Downing and Jason Thompson hit back-to-back homers to start the game off, but the Riders battle back and take a lead on Tommy Marcello's three-run homer in the seventh. Rich Gossage works a scoreless ninth for his third save as Milwaukee evens the series with a 9-6 win.

Game 24: Tommy Marcello hits another three-run homer and the Riders top the Goats 7-4, getting back into a tie for the division lead.

We travel to Minnesota next.

Game 25: The Riders rally for four runs in the ninth to force extra innings, but the Lame Moose win it in the 10th as Andre Thornton hits a one-out grand slam off Bert Roberge. Final score: 11-7, Minnesota.

Game 26: Minnesota outhomers Milwaukee two to one, and not surprisingly they win the game by a run, 4-3.

Game 27: The Riders avoid a sweep, getting a three-run homer from Tommy Marcello in the fifth to open up a 6-0 lead, then cruising to a 9-3 win.

We host Seattle next.

Game 28: The Clippers destroy the Rider bullpen, scoring 17 runs after Mark Gubicza departs in the fifth inning, and crushing Milwaukee 19-10. A good offensive day for the Riders, but all for naught.

Game 29: The Riders bounce back in game two as catcher Bill Schroeder hits two home runs, including a second-inning grand slam, and Mike Smithson throws seven solid innings to beat San Diego 7-3. Smithson improves to 2-4 and his ERA drops to 10.75.

Game 30: Frank Viola throws eight scoreless innings and Rich Gossage finishes it off with another blank frame in the ninth as the Riders shut out the Clippers 2-0.

Georgia Force is in town next.

Game 31: Atlanta unleashes its offensive forces against the Milwaukee pitching staff, pounding out 24 hits and 19 runs to back Ron Guidry, who pitches a complete game 5-hitter. Milwaukee manages only one run.

Game 32: The Milwaukee bullpen is outpitched by Atlanta's, and Georgia Force scores one more run in the late innings to edge the Riders 6-5.

Game 33: Mike Marshall homers in the seventh to tie the game, then wins it in the 11th with a two-run shot, allowing the Riders to avoid a sweep by Atlanta, winning the finale 7-6.

We're off to New York to face the rampaging Mammoths (25-8).

Game 34: The Riders have a glorious eight-run second inning and Frank Viola throws seven shutout innings as Milwaukee tops the Mammoths 10-1 in the series opener.

Game 35: Andy Van Slyke and Mike Davis hit RBI singles in the ninth to send the game to extras, but New York triumphs in the 10th as Tony Gwynn doubles home Tom Herr with one out. Final score is 8-7.

Game 36: New York gets two big homers, a two-run shot by Harold Baines and a lead-changing three-run blast by George Bell in the seventh, to beat the Riders 6-4.

We travel to Cleveland next.

Game 37: Mike Smithson pitches respectably, but leaves trailing 4-3. In the top of the eighth, the Riders get two run homers from Andy Van Slyke and Bill Madlock, plus an RBI single by Roy Smalley, to take an 8-4 lead. After Sammy Stewart allows the first two Saltdog batters to reach base in the ninth, Rich Gossage enters and gets out of the inning with only one run scored; Milwaukee wins 8-5.

Game 38: Each Milwaukee starter has at least one hit, collecting 19 in all (four by Bill Madlock) and they top the Saltdogs 9-3.

Game 39: Tim Raines has four hits and four runs scored while Rich Gedman has four RBI and the Riders sweep Cleveland with a 6-3 victory.

We return home to face Washington.

Game 40: Mike Marshall has four hits, including his 10th home run, and five RBI to pace a 22-hit, four-homer attack as the Riders rout the Commandos 13-1.

Game 41: Mike Marshall and Andy Van Slyke hit consecutive homers in a four-run sixth that lifts the Riders to a 4-1 win over Washington.

Game 42: For the third consecutive game, the Riders allow only one Washington run as they edge Tom Browning 3-1 to complete a series sweep. Rich Gossage pitches a scoreless ninth for his seventh save.

We head to Chicago to face the Goats.

Game 43: Milwaukee starts the series with a bang, scoring four in the first. While the Goats tie the game in the fourth, Milwaukee responds with a five-run fifth and, for good measure, a five-run sixth. Jim Gott throws 3.1 scoreless innings of relief for the save and the Riders win 16-7.

Game 44: Tim Raines snaps a 2-2 tie in the seventh with an RBI single, and Bill Madlock follows a few batters later with a three-run home run as the Riders pull away from the Goats, 6-2.

Game 45: Mike Smithson throws eight strong innings and three Riders have three hits each as they top the Goats 8-2 in the series finale.

We host Minnesota next.

Game 46: Frank Viola is chased in a six-run first, Bert Roberge allows five more, and Rick Sutcliffe takes seven innings of pounding as the Lame Moose destroy the Riders 21-2.

Game 47: Some semblance of sanity returns as the Rider bullpen contributes four effective innings in a 3-2 win over Minnesota. Britt Burns improves to 5-2.

Game 48: Craig Reynolds singles home a run in the ninth off Sammy Stewart and the Milwaukee bats go down 1-2-3 against Tom Henke, giving the Moose a 4-3 win in the series finale.

We head to San Diego next.

Game 49: Mike Smithson retires only one batter before leaving and we have a repeat of the opener against Minnesota as Rick Sutcliffe pitches 5.1 innings to finish off a big loss, this one by the final score of 11-4.

Game 50: Rich Gedman leads off the eighth inning with a home run, snapping a 3-3 tie; the Riders score three more runs before the inning ends, and hold on from there for a 7-4 win.

Game 51: Damaso Garcia drives in three runs and Mike Davis scores three times as the Riders take the series, beating San Diego 9-6 in the finale. Rich Gossage pitches a scoreless ninth, earning his 10th save and lowering his ERA to 6.00

From here we are off to Atlanta.
