Just a small note, as it probably doesn't make a huge difference over a full season, but your "WHIP + 3.00" for BFIP is slightly off, because it doesn't account for runners reaching on errors. If a pitcher is playing in front of a crappy defense, that number will be higher.

According to this, '89 Ryan is good for 17.9 pitches/inning and 134 pitches/start. I guess that's not too surprising, but crazy to think he did even close to that in RL

I was looking over this and I would like to update my formula with what I'm using now

I multiply BFP by 3.392 add 4.444 for each BB and add 1.916 for each strikeout.

For Gagne

BFP = 306
BB = 20
SO = 137

3.392(306) + 4.444(20) + 1.916(137) = 1389.24 pitches

I want to be sure I understand this (sometimes I'm not so good at the math...)

I have '85 Blyleven in a league that's about to start.  His numbers are:
WHIP     1.15
BB/IP     .255
K/IP        .701
IP/162    294

(4.15*3.392)+(.255*4.444)+(.701*1.916) = 16.555 Pitches/Inning
16.555*294 = 4867.41 Pitches/Year

So, if I want to get 40 starts out of him, I can expect 4867.41/40=121.68 pitches per game.

Right?  Maybe?

Well I get 4809 - but I use his BFP of 1203.  For 294 IP, that's 4.09 batters per inning pitched.  I think every now and then one of those H's or BB's gets erased in a double play.  Anyway, that's still 120 pitches per start.   You can get BFP by looking at his general statistics in his draft profile.  It's called PA there.

He appeared in 37 games, so he should be good for about 130 pitches before in-game fatigue gets him.

This isn't the case with all pitchers.  Some. like '08 Addie Joss,  appeared in more games than he started (44 vs 37), so his 4719 pitches get spread over 44 games, causing his pitch per game limit to be more like 104.  That's my theory, anyway.  I don't let him go more than 100 pitches per game.

Good luck.
