Is it midseason already? I think we need some MLD Power Rankings!
The All-Star selections will be announced tomorrow, so this time around we'll dispense with Who's Hot and Who's Not... notes only!
1 - Gotham City Knights (previously 2) - 27-8-5-0 - jaydenw31
Knights regain top spot... top offense and defense in the league... #1 in shooting percentage and in save percentage.
2 - Brewster Bears (1) - 25-10-3-2 - corbs1019
Bears second in goals scored... most shots on goal and least shots against... Cristobal Pisila still leading MVP contender.
3 - Henderson Hornets (6) - 22-12-6-0 - blee3467
Third in goals scored and in goals against... second in shooting percentage and in save percentage... Hornets have 10 players with five or more goals.
4 - Anoka Tornados (5) - 21-12-4-3 - big_drive
Norris Division leaders feature ROY frontrunner Leif Schutschkoff and goalie wins leader Bud Nesman.
5 - Helsinki Lions (8) - 20-9-9-2 - finnski
Tied for second least goals against... Balanced offense? Top Lions goal scorer has 6, a league low, but 12 Lions have scored between 4 and 6 goals!
6 - Winnipeg Jets (11) - 20-15-5-0 - gocam
Is Lacroix a Vezina candidate? Jets give up second-most shots on goal, but have 6th best save percentage.
7 - Kingston Crooks (12) - 20-12-8-0 - onekrazypuck
The Crooks have their nasty edge back, moving back up the PIM rankings even while cutting their goals against to a top-five ranking.
8 - Okanagan Ogopogoes (9) - 19-13-8-0 - canuk
Bavis Division leaders are tough to beat in a tight game, backstopped by rookie sensation netminder Marek Plokki.
9 - Yorba Linda Yowlers (15) - 18-12-9-1 - yogsloth
Defensive problems? What defensive problems? The PIM leaders have shored up the back end to top-five status.
10 - Valhalla Vikings (4) - 20-17-3-0 - modo21
Vikings still possess a top-five offense but recent defensive lapses have led to a slide in the standings.
11 - Yorkton Millers (7) - 19-13-7-1 - drg330
Millers keep pace in the ultra-competitive Smythe Division, led by underrated scorer Martin Demidov.
12 - Chilliwack Bruins (3) - 17-14-5-4 - bremiro
The free-falling Bruins have been giving up goals in bunches lately.

MLD Power Rankings continued...
13 - Combermere Cay (13) - 17-15-7-1 - vmorte
The Cay offense keeps ticking along, featuring ten goal scorers with five or more tallies.
14 - Wyandotte Hurons (14) - 16-13-9-2 - max259
The Hurons win the ones they really need to, playing well despite still being outscored on the season.
15 - Roswell Aliens (19) - 15-14-9-2 - rammers
Last place in the Smythe despite a winning record... the Aliens have not allowed a powerplay goal all season.
16 - Pontiac Firebirds (18) - 14-15-9-2 - damag
A recent hot streak has the Firebirds approaching .500 again.
17 - Indianapolis Racers (17) - 15-19-5-1 - smeric
Michal Kopra is the lowest-scoring team leader in the league, with 16 points.
18 - Beaverdale Bangers (10) - 14-17-8-1 - jmerch
Shootouts in the MLD? If it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen in Beaverdale, where the Bangers give up the most shots in the league.
19 - Hernando Hit Men (16) - 13-16-6-5 - thewaffleman
Just when they looked to be getting something going, injuries have hit the Hit Men hard this week, with several team leaders going on the DL.
20 - NY Pussycats (20) - 11-16-13-0 - ukol
The Pussycats boast the league scoring leader, Darin Webster.
21 - Intercourse Dutchmen (21) - 11-21-6-2 - bigbadgreen1
The Dutchmen have been playing much better, as rookie netminder Bates Mannikainen has overcome a terrible start and is looking like a #1 lately.
22 - Maricopa Wildcats (23) - 9-23-5-3 - vicpat
What else can happen? The Wildcats' leading scorer, Philip Kaivonen, has gone on the DL.
23 - Encinitas Blades (24) - 9-23-6-2 - jbar8888
The Blades have overtaken the Dutchmen for most goals against in the league, and are the only MLD team to have used five goalies this season.
24 - Halifax Mooseheads (22) - 6-23-9-2 - slorhav
Not many goals nor much defense in Halifax... league-worst 1-8-1 in their last 10.
Look for your All-Star Teams tomorrow... enjoy the All-Star break, and till next time, Keep It Unreal!

42... I wonder how long the perfect PK record can hold. Probaby will come to an end when I play the Bears next... since I made sure I jinxed myself with this post and all.

And that after picking up somewhat higher stamina he might had a lucky break in season 5 and got the full season. Maybe Big Drive can share some info on the issue?
This is true rammers. I believe in season 1 he had a season ending knee injury, and in seasons 2, 6, and 7 he other injuries to keep him out of the lineup. It was a matter of lower stamina, but his D rating was what made him a key player on the Tornados team. Of course that was before we knew just how important the stamina rating was to the league.

Heard you missed us, we're back! I brought my pencil! Hey man, gimme somethin' to write on!
Time for a Roster Deadline Edition of the MLD Power Rankings!
Apologies for the hiatus as all staff at MLD League Offices have been working double time to keep up with the Christmas rush on back-ordered MLD merchandise! On with the show!
T1 - Henderson Hornets (previously 3) - 38-19-9-0 - blee3467
Hornets putting it all together... #1 team in goals and shooting percentage... D Esa Airikka leading Hart candidate... 3 of top 10 scorers in MLD.
T1 - Gotham City Knights (1) - 39-18-9-0 - jaydenw31
Yes, a tie for top spot! Knights are back on track after a post-All Star lull... #1 in MLD in goals against... Forwards Katainen, Poutalainen and Hallama all scoring at a top-10 clip.
T3 - Winnipeg Jets (6) - 34-21-10-1 - gocam
Top-five team in goals scored and goals against... G Kevin Lacroix has started almost every game and leads the MLD in shutouts, seeking his second Vezina trophy.
T3 - Kingston Crooks (7) - 33-21-11-1 - onekrazypuck
Yes, another tie as the Crooks and Jets swap places in the standings almost every game... G Tyrez Parkka has been an ironman in nets; Romans, Haapalainen and McPhatty give the Crooks a balanced attack.
5 - Yorba Linda Yowlers (9) - 32-18-15-1 - yogsloth
Perhaps the league's hottest team since the quarter mark... Yowlers rookie goalie tandem of Fabrell and Hanhimaki leads the league in save percentage... still the #1 team in PIM, and the Torpedo is back.
6 - Brewster Bears (2) - 34-21-6-5 - corbs1019
Post-all-star slide was dramatic for the Bears, but a slew of recent trades may see them shoring up the team defense... forwards Pisila and Jefferies still MVP contenders.
7 - Helsinki Lions (5) - 33-21-10-2 - finnski
Lions have been relatively quiet lately but still one of only five MLD teams top-five in goals scored and goals against... G Vesa Alasaari is a strong Vezina contender.
8 - Yorkton Millers (11) - 32-19-12-3 - drg330
A major sleeper? The Millers are close to the top five in most team categories and have been hot lately... past two MLD Cups have been won by sleeper teams!
9 - Anoka Tornados (4) - 33-22-7-4 - big_drive
Tornados have done nothing to slide in the rankings, the rest of this conference is just so competitive... D Leif Schutschkoff still a leading Calder candidate.
10 - Roswell Aliens (15) - 30-22-12-2 - rammers
Aliens have blazed back into contention since settling their lineup... star rookie Cs Willi Piirto and John Heinze have clicked together... still have not surrendered a powerplay goal this season.
11 - Combermere Cay (13) - 30-22-13-1 - vmorte
Yes, the 8th seed in the Campbell Conference has 30 wins... Cay are top-five in goals against... blockbuster trade to acquire LW Leigh Hamu from the Hernando Hit Men makes Combermere even more dangerous.
12 - Pontiac Firebirds (16) - 26-22-15-3 - damag
The Firebirds trap continues to suck the air out of the puck... top-five in goals against again... rookie G Bo Darville has made a strong move to take over the #1 job, racking up a 303:52 shutout streak recently... Firebirds by far the worst team in faceoff percentage.
12/23/2007 10:18 AM
MLD Power Rankings continued...
13 - Chilliwack Bruins (12) - 28-24-10-4 - bremiro
At current pace, a winning team is going to miss the playoffs in the Campbell Conference... right now the Bruins hold that unfortunate spot.
14 - Wyandotte Hurons (14) - 27-23-11-5 - max259
Hurons have been ticking along, playing consistently... early-season defensive lapses still show this team having been outscored on the season... all-sleeper final could feature Hurons vs. Millers!
15 - Okanagan Ogopogoes (8) - 24-24-16-2 - canuk
Scoring has really dropped off for the Ogopogoes, leading to a recent cold streak.
16 - Valhalla Vikings (10) - 28-30-7-1 - modo21
Vikings have become the MLD's run-and-gun team, leading the league in shots taken and shots against.
17 - Hernando Hit Men (19) - 22-27-12-5 - thewaffleman
Last in the league in shooting percentage... Hit Men still hold a playoff position despite being bottom-five in goals scored and goals against.
18 - Indianapolis Racers (17) - 24-31-10-1 - smeric
Racers need to play better five-on-five... they've been ice-cold despite scoring the most powerplay goals and shorthanded goals in the MLD... D Maxim Sirnio has jumped up into the goalscoring leaders.
19 - NY Pussycats (20) - 20-28-17-1 - ukol
Pussycats just can't get a win streak going, otherwise this team is very close to contention... C Darin Webster continues to be one of the MLD's most deadly shooters.
20 - Intercourse Dutchmen (21) - 23-34-7-2 - bigbadgreen1
The Dutchmen may be a completely different team than they were at the beginning of the season, now that rookie G Bates Mannikainen is the clear #1.
21 - Beaverdale Bangers (18) - 20-32-13-1 - jmerch
The defense has fallen apart... Bangers have now surrendered the most goals in the Campbell Conference.
22 - Halifax Mooseheads (24) - 17-33-14-2 - slorhav
The league's Purple Heart award goes to G Leland Irving, with a 1.73 GAA, 94+ save percentage, and 9 shutouts... for the Mooseheads!
23 - Maricopa Wildcats (22) - 17-33-12-4 - vicpat
The Wildcats aren't going quietly... #3 in the league in PIM... young G Flash Kekalainen looks like a good one.
24 - Encinitas Blades (23) - 14-39-10-3 - jbar8888
Sad to say, there's just no goaltending here... Blades have a decent attack and defence but have surrendered, by far, the most goals in the MLD.
And now, a special treat! From MLD Head Offices... the top-five selling MLD jerseys this Christmas season!
1 - Kevin Lacroix, Winnipeg Jets
2 - Ronald Whitaker, Roswell Aliens
3 - Leif Schutschkoff, Anoka Tornados
4 - Darin Webster, NY Pussycats
5 - Kaspars Torppala, Yorba Linda Yowlers
The Big Question:
Will this season's leading goal scorer even hit 30?
Enjoy the home stretch, and Keep It Unreal!

Congrats to the new HOFers and owners. I swung my vote on Savard, guess that did the trick.
1/2/2008 7:53 AM
Congrats to the new inductees!
As for everyone else, Jermaine Sweese is not impressed...... lol He's so upset I hear he is thinking of letting one of his sons into the next MLD draft to get drafted and to wreak havoc..... of course this is just a rumour that can't be confirmed at this moment. lol
Another thing, how come some players have 12 and others 13? Just curious..
1/2/2008 9:24 AM
The 12 or 13 votes is because you cant pick your own player(s). And some GMs who voted didnt have any players on the nomination list. So its either 12 or 13 votes max (100%) depending on this.
1/2/2008 4:52 PM
lol, but still Sweese Sr. have some die hard fans okp.
1/2/2008 4:58 PM
It's nice to see that one of the players I put up got votes! It would be really nice if the rest of the owners who don't vote would start voting.
1/2/2008 6:35 PM
Time for the "VOTE FOR SWEESE" campaign to begin
