MLD RULE BOOK    (Updated Feb 2012 - Eliminating NP Bonus)

Recent Rule Changes
Bonus Removal (Effective as off Season 30)
The Non-Playoff Bonus will no longer be awarded, the Yr29-30 offseason was the final time this particular bonus was awarded

RULE REGARDING PLAYOFF ELIGILIBILTY:
FOR SKATERS,
players must play 20 or more regular season game in that season to be eligible for playoff roster.
FOR GOALIES, only the goalies on your team with the top 2 TOI totals in that regular season are eligible for playoff roster(Starting Season 21)

Players(FWDs and DEFs) without 20 regular season games played are INELIGIBLE for playoffs.

EXCEPTION – First season prospects (only the ones drafted LAST offseason) are allowed in playoffs even when playing less than 20 regular season games.

Use of an ineligible player may result in automatic loss of any playoff games with TOI.

Player Retirements

Player retirements for skaters (Once salary goes above 750k, player must retire*)  *=except Franchise Players

Player retirements for goalies (Once they hit the regular season career total of 250 TOI, they must retire*) *=except Franchise Players

Any skater who plays a total of 20 or more regular season games in any given season automatically qualifies for a salary increase for the next season.

Any skater who plays 19 or less regular season games in any given season will have their salary remain unchanged

Franchise Players (aka FPs)

Franchise Players are a single player you deem to be your most important puzzle piece.

Franchise Players who are skaters have a 1,500,000 unit career limit.  Once they demand more, you need to retire them.

Franchise Players who are goalies must retire when they reach the regular season career total of 350 TOI.

Franchise Player Restrictions And Specifics

Players MUST have played their entire career for your franchise to qualify to be your designated FP.  (Players who are traded for CANNOT become your FP)

FPs CANNOT be traded

For skater FPs, it is 1.5 million units and then he gets retired.  (roughly the 9 season limit for FPs that was originally planned)

Salary Chart  (1 season = 20+ regular season games played)
0 seasons played ~ 165k
1 seasons played ~ 214k
2 seasons played ~ 278k
3 seasons played ~ 362k
4 seasons played ~ 471k
5 seasons played ~ 612k
--------------------------------
6 seasons played ~ 796k --> must retire!!! (796,421)
(IF SKATER IS FP)

7 seasons played ~ (1035357)
8 seasons played ~ (1345964)
9 seasons played ~ (1749753)   (Over the 1.5 million units cap for FP)
FP Must Retire

GM Contracts

Every once in awhile, usually as we get closer to our final "covered" MLD season, the commish will contact every GM to see if they would like to continue to compete in the MLD.   GMs who wish to continue must purchase the requested "X" amount of "full season" teams.  These teams will be collected from everyone and the MLD as a whole will be extended for "X" seasons.   If you choose not to continue, the MLD reserves the right to find a replacement for you and hire a new GM to take over your franchise.
Failure to actively manage your team may also result in you essentially getting fired from your franchise.

Draft Picks Bonuses

Bottom 6 Bonus -  The bottle finishing 6 teams of the regular season get support here.  The last place team picks 1st in the draft and gets a 12 point bonus to each skill attribute added if skater, 1st pick =12, 2nd =10, 3rd =8, 4th =6, 5th =4, 6th =2.   IF A goalie is selected, the bonus is cut in half.

Non Playoff Teams - Since they miss out on the playoff improvements, the teams who do not make the playoffs are given a +3 to Stamina, Shooting, and Skating.  This also helps those teams to better compete in the following season.

The "Sidney Crosby Bonus" - awarded to teams who've consistantly floated at the bottom of the standings.  This bonus will apply to any team that has at any point missed the playoffs for 3 consecutive seasons.  I'd like to call it the "Crosby-Bonus" as it is intended to hopefully resurrect some life into these struggling franchises.  This bonus, will see a team who qualifies for the "Crosby-Bonus" have their 1st round pick jacked up to an elite level, +20 in stamina (if possible), +20 in shooting, +20 in skating, and +20 in Defense.  If a goalie is selected as their 1st pick, they'll get +10 in saving and +10 stamina added.  Once a team receives the "Crosby-Bonus", they must miss the playoffs for another 3 consecutive seasons to qualify for another "Crosby-Bonus"

When will these boneses show up?

These bonuses are inputed after the draft is complete and signing deadline is passed, when they will show up on your MLD roster varies.  Sometimes its before, sometimes it is AFTER the 1st game of the regular season is played for that particular season.  Rest assured, your bonuses WILL show up.  If you feel you did not receive bonuses you were due to receive, contact the commish and he will look into it.

Examples of tricky MLD scenerios and explanations for them

Goalie Retirement - A non-FP goalie finishes a season and has a regular career TOI total of 249:59:59.  Since he has not officially hit the TOI regular season career limit of 250* needed to determine retirement, he is able to stay on the roster for the following season.
GOALIES CAREER TOI LIMIT IS 250 TOI

FP GOALIES CAREER TOI LIMIT IS 350 TOI

Changing Your FP - A GM can opt to change their franchise's FP in the OFF SEASON ONLY.  ALL FP Restrictions still apply.  (see above)

What would MLD World Thread #2 be without... the MLD Power Rankings!
With the first round of intra-conference play in the books, let's see who's been doing what, to whom!
1 - Brewster Bears (2) - 18-6-0-0 - corbs1019
Even while shaking up the roster, the Bears have dominated at both ends of the ice as they lead the MLD in shots on goal while conceding the fewest!
Who's Hot! - RW Cristobal Pisila is a leading contender for MVP at the quarter.
Who's Not... - D Marcel Hirvi leads the team in +/- but will be on the DL for a spell.
2 - Gotham City Knights (1) - 16-5-3-0 - jaydenw31
Despite a rough patch earlier in the week, the Knights maintain their hold on top seed in the POW Conference thanks to the league's best defense and second-best offense.
Who's Hot! - D Libor Toro tops the league in +/- and is second in scoring on the Knights.
Who's Not... - several Knights have been reassigned to the minors, they'll be missing out on the fun... at least for awhile.
3 - Chilliwack Bruins (3) - 14-6-2-2 - bremiro
Tied for second in the league in goals against and with plenty of offense at hand, the Bruins are among the league's best teams in all categories.
Who's Hot! - D Percy Alaspaa is among the league leaders in goals and +/-.
Who's Not... - RW Toni Ojansuu has only two points and is -1.
4 - Valhalla Vikings (13) - 14-9-1-0 - modo21
Rocketing up the rankings come the Vikings, as many players in the lineup have discovered their scoring touch.
Who's Hot! - LW Louis Niemi is among the team leaders in all categories.
Who's Not... - C Tapio Thidiske, last season's MLD goal scoring leader, failed to tally since the last power rankings, and has been sent to the minors.
5 - Anoka Tornados (8) - 13-8-3-0 - big_drive
Riding a recent hot streak, the Tornados have taken the lead in the NORRIS division.
Who's Hot! - D Leif Schutschkoff is the league's top rookie at this point.
Who's Not... - D Jan Ramanen leads the team in shots on goal but has not scored and is -4.
6 - Henderson Hornets (19) - 12-7-5-0 - blee3467
With a top-five offense and defense, the Hornets have only Smythe Division mates Brewster keeping them out of the very top of these rankings.
Who's Hot! - C Jacob Manning and C Kevin Sigman give the Hornets great strength at center.
Who's Not... - RW Ivan Mattila is still looking for his first goal of the season.
7 - Yorkton Millers (10) - 12-7-4-1 - drg330
With airtight defense in Yorkton, the offense has shown signs of life recently. If the power play can get going, watch out.
Who's Hot! - G Ilkka Pussa is among the league leaders in wins and GAA.
Who's Not... - LW Al Tavast, the franchise player, has only one goal thus far.
8 - Helsinki Lions (15) - 9-5-8-2 - finnski
Been awhile since the Lions have led the Adams Division, but playing this kind of defense it's no wonder.
Who's Hot! - G Vesa Alasaari has taken over the #1 job.
Who's Not... - RW Shane Bukuloff has scored only two points this season.
9 - Okanagan Ogopogoes (4) - 11-7-6-0 - canuk
The Ogopogoes have had a little trouble finding the net of late, leading to their recent slide out of the Bavis Division lead.
Who's Hot! - G Marek Plokki has emerged as a rookie of the year candidate, among the league leaders in several categories.
Who's Not... - Rookie RW Bobby Haworth leads the team's wingers in shots on goal but has scored only once.
10 - Beaverdale Bangers (14) - 10-7-6-1 - jmerch
A recent hot streak has the Bangers back in the thick of things in the very tight Bailey Division.
Who's Hot! - LW Sandy Sunnari has been on a tear of late, joining the team's scoring leaders.
Who's Not... - Rookie RW Rejean Bonde was a team-worst -5 and has been reassigned to the minors.
11 - Winnipeg Jets (6) - 11-9-4-0 - gocam
Tight games are the norm in Winnipeg, as the Jets continue to be one of the toughest teams in the MLD to play against.
Who's Hot! - G Kevin Lacroix is once again a Vezina contender.
Who's Not... - RWs Dave Bomhof and rookie Cass Caron still have nary a goal between them.
12 - Kingston Crooks (5) - 11-9-4-0 - onekrazypuck
The scoring seems to be down in Kingston this season, as is the brawling. Is there a new emphasis on defense? Nope - the Crooks have given up the most shots in the league.
Who's Hot! - RW Nolan Haapalainen continues to lead the MLD in goals, but look out for rookie C Molly Manson.
Who's Not... - LW Jude Brandt is a team-worst -8.

So you are... damag can't read his own freakin' notes.
12/2/2007 9:32 AM
well done, damag
12/2/2007 12:47 PM
Nice Job Damag, hopefully the Bears feel the pain of the jinx that comes with being ranked #1!
12/2/2007 1:54 PM
Damn... can't argue with the notes damag. Well done.

Thanks rammers. How I interpret the stats may not be correct... especially since I am much more familiar with certain teams than others. If I make any errors let me know.
