MLD World Thread #2 Topic

I think that is a valid point Gocam. I do not believe anyone here has a 100% understanding of how all the values affect players. It's not as easy as comparing a 50 goal Bure and a 5 goal support man. The shots are being shared more regularly than in leagues where you can taylor fit guys.
I do not like the idea of the rollback. I would rather see a draft with less talent and eliminate the majority of bonuses. I'll keep repeating this till I'm blue in the face but the warehousing of players has alot to do with this and as previously mentioned the goalies are in too long.
Before we make drastic changes, let's at least sew up these loose ends first.

A draft with less talent will drive offense down further, and make it unmanageable as players have stamina values too low to keep them all from breaking. Warehousing will get worse if we do that.
The ONLY thing in this league that governs offensive output is D-men DEF values. For reals, brah.
If the concensus is that the level of offensive output is acceptable to everyone, then change nothing. If the concensus is that offense needs to increase, then the only change that will matter are those DEF values. Nothing else will have any substantive effect.

Just a quick comment, I think it isn't just the d-men DEF ratings that would need tweaking.... but the forwards DEF ratings as well.

What about an across-the-board huge (40-50) goalie skill slashing combined with making goalie careers shorter.? what effect(s) do you think that would have? (just tossing this idea out there)

I notice many different opinions, comments, and potential solutions from everyone..... a sign that no matter what conclusion is reached, it will be impossible to please everyone.
A vote will no doubt be needed and we'll do what we've always done in our sim-sport world, go with what the majority wants.
But that vote won't come until the new sim engine gets released and we can hopefully get Welch to test out the new sim to see what kind of results it would produce for our league...... who knows, maybe it will solve everything!! (doubt it but one can hope right?!?!) :P

Well spoken gocam. I think after reading your comments what I really want to see are the 1st and 2nd lines with realistic stats. The current game scores are realistic and compare to the real NHL. And I agree with yogs that season 3 stats are about right.

My only request in this matter is that we address the straight forward problems before the hypithetical ones.
  • Goalies lifespan reduced, 30% reduction in TOI
  • Warehousing of players, okp suggested 9 seasons max for Non-FP

I do just want to throw out there that if we end up changing nothing, I'd be okay with that. It's not like things are so miserable we MUST have a change. I just don't want it to seem like I'm super negative. :)

Encouraging... I seem to remember the same thing happened last season... a little surge as the lineups settled in.

Sorry guys, stats only this time - haven't time to post any comments and stuff on the players if you sent this to me...
But for our hardcore GMs there are always the MLD team threads with additional info on some of the retired players...
And all the official team threads are linked on page 1 of the MLD A Completed Record thread...
12/8/2007 11:00 PM
Hmmm... with his stats, I'm intrigued as to why Valtama only played 381 games!
12/9/2007 9:54 AM
Agree damag, he was an top D-man for sure. But I suspect Valtama had health issues when he jonined MLD in season 1. He played this season #: 37-52-70-18-82-56-66=381.

And that after picking up somewhat higher stamina he might had a lucky break in season 5 and got the full season. Maybe Big Drive can share some info on the issue?
