MR. DEVIL: A FEW HINTS

ERA + RBI'S ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN WHIP+ OBP!

MAKE SURE YOU SPEND ENOUGH MONEY ON YER BENCH PLAYERS, SAY 500,000- I MILLION EACH!

YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH INNINGS, DRAFT AT LEAST 1900-2200!

IF YOU ARE DRAFTING AN OFFENSIVE TEAM, PICK A HITTERS PARK LIKE SHEA, ASTRODOME, OR DODGER STADIUM!

IF YOU ARE DRAFTING GREAT PITCHING, PICK A STADIUM LIKE COORS, ENRON,ETC!

I'VE ALWAYS HAD GREAT SUCCESS WITH REGGIE JACKSON, DAVE WINFIELD, AND BERNARD GILKEY!

Dude, imagine yourself off the coast of Austrailia floating in a 10 footer. There's a small sea of sharks ranging from 8'-23' long circling under/around your boat, but just deep enough that you can't see them.

Now, you decide to jump in and when you get there, you start asking questions like "what's the water temperature?", "where are all the girls?" and "what's good to eat around here?".

That's where you are right now.

I wasn't going to take Gilkey in my Mets theme league, but after seeing cresten's sage advice, I think I will. Thanks cresten!

Jeez. Javy Lopez '03 underperforms but for right-handed power compare his pricetag to Aaron's. Maddux '97 is a solid, affordable anchor. Furcal: what a bargain. Different Mathews can fill a variety of roles. The $200k SS Alomar is my favorite back-up/throwaway. I like '58 Pizarro for long relief. And Ray King's good year w/ the Brewers is the most economical LHRP, if you believe in such things. Oh, and if you find yourself playng at Braves Field, encourage your players to smoke recklessly in the locker room.

Keep your HR/9 low. Whenever possible I try to keep all my guys below .5 HR/9
Also, range on defence seems to be slightly more important than glove. From what I have seen, a guy who is D+/A+ will create more outs than a guy who is A+/D+... although he will make many more errors.

One Atlanta Brave with whom I've had a lot of success is Dale Murphy, from the years when he still had speed. He is a well-rounded player who will play pretty well in every ballpark, though he won't dominate in any park. If you set his baserunning and basestealing up to "5," he can steal you 40 or 50 bases in addition to hitting 30 home runs.

Yale is obviously your last name and not your alma mater
