I still laugh at philly-Barkley being perimeter.
I even laugh at the midrange philly-barkley.

I sent in a ticket, suggesting that we get a per-48 tab in the draft center.

Quick update:

We're currently testing out the changes to both Defensive ratings and the new offensive range system.

We've removed the boost for All-Defense from the defensive ratings, but have added floors. So instead of artificially boosting everybody who was All-Defense, we just raise the ones who need it (e.g. Dumars, Bowen, etc.).

Also, we've implemented the shot% breakdown to replace the more restrictive Offensive Range categorization. So each player will have a Perimeter%, Midrange%, and Paint%.

For example, 88-89 Barkley has a breakdown of 13% Per, 18% Mid, and 69% Pnt.
07-08 James Posey is 67% Per, 15% Mid, and 18% Pnt.
97-98 Jordan is 7% Per, 61% Mid, and 32% Pnt.

Those are things that I like to hear.

can someone update me on the whole FG+ thing and why we should think it has any bearing on anything at all related to the sim?
7/25/2008 12:24 PM
My understanding of FG+ is that it represents fg effeciency compared to peers within a given season. It should have a big bearing on the sim since fg% has changed alot across eras. So if Bob Pettit has a low fg% compared to all players but was better than average in his era (fg+>100) he should shoot better than average in the sim.
7/25/2008 1:43 PM
and what have you seen in the leagues you've played in?
7/25/2008 2:57 PM
I only have two teams going since the new sim.

They are both part of an auction draft league of 2007-08 players. So I have no basis for evaluating the application other than some sim-matchups I ran with real life teams from different eras.

The sim-matchup results appeared to be in line with what I posted above.

FG+ seems pointless without knowing what the adjusted FG% is...I know it was one of the things I was confused about when the new update was made...there is an AVG+ number in the MLB sim, but there's also an AVG number that shows the AVG adjustment, based on the AVG+ number...the NBA sim needs this...its something that ncmusician was griping about.

I don't know which year WIS is using as the actual fg% it adjusts to.

But it is pretty easy to get an estimated adj fg% for any given year from fg%+

Ex: to adjust any players fg% roughly into 1990-91 %s just multply the fg+ By 0.474 .

47.4 is the 90-91 leaguewide %
