The father of DiPietro (knee) said his son's hips are "stronger than ever," according to Islanders Point Blank. In addition, Richard DiPietro Sr. said the improvement on DP's knee this offseason is "night and day" in comparison to last season. While it is good to hear some more positive news, we still must wait until camp approaches to see if in fact the franchise netminder will be ready to participate and if so, how the team handles him through camp and preseason.

Guess that explains why they signed two starting goalies this off-season too

Coach Scott Gordon said DiPietro (knee) will "ramp up his workouts on the ice" next week, the New York Post reports.Gordon said DiPietro will work on "moving off passes, multiple shots, recoveries, everything that would come up in the course of a normal practice." Another step forward for RDP, but still no timetable for actual team practice or games since they have no need to rush him back with the depth they have between the pipes.

ahhh... The water is frozen on the pond, the Molson is flowing, DiPietro is still hurt, and the Isles are still in for another 13 years of this.

DiPietro (knee) participated in about 15 minutes of team practice Monday, according to the New York Newsday.Another step forward for DiPietro. Hopefully, he will continue to progress and not suffer any setbacks. When he does return to game action, the question will be what to do with three potential No. 1 goalies; but let's cross that bridge when we get to it.

DiPietro is out indefinitely with swelling in his knee, Islanders Point Blank reports. The team is saying this is a precautionary move and his tests from Monday "were good." Still, history repeats itself and not many folks in the fantasy world will bank on DiPietro until he is back between the pipes. We'll have to wait and see now if this will alter the Islanders' plans to move either Dwayne Roloson or Martin Biron in a trade before the deadline strikes.

DiPietro (knee) has been shut down for the season, according to New York Newsday. He finishes the year with seven starts and a 2-5-0 record. Not a big surprise here. Islanders Point Blank reports that if the swelling in the knee subsides, he might be able to practice in the next two weeks, but he will not see any game action. GM Garth Snow toed the company line by saying "We feel that working with our goaltending coaches this summer, Rick will return to top form." However, with a combined 13 games under his belt over the last two seasons.

That is almost $1 million per start for the last 2 seasons.
