Daily Ration of Nonsense Topic

True but like Tianyi said, we have teams full of guys that shoot over 50% and a lot of up tempo....and a lot of assists drafted. Defense is amazingly incompetent in this version.
Used to be you could draft 5000 boards and get 60-70 a game. Not seeing that anymore as guys just aren't missing shots so fewer boards to grab.
What gets old is that we are limited to like 20 players that everyone uses.
2/7/2009 4:46 PM
You could probably draft dennis rodman alone and be competitive in the reb category. Throw in another rebounder and there is no way reb differential will be the reason you lose.
2/8/2009 4:05 PM
I had one game recently where 40 of my 44 makes were assisted...that practically would never happen...usually the assist/FGM ratio is about 33-40%.
2/8/2009 4:15 PM
In real life, the overall league ratio of AST/FG is usually 55-60%.
2/8/2009 4:45 PM
My apologies for the incorrect ratio...I took a quick glance the other day and must have misread.
2/8/2009 5:52 PM
63 fgm, 51 assists. last night in an OL.

-_-
2/8/2009 6:53 PM
assists in the boxscore are just output

its the impact they have on fg% and whether they are priced for competitive balance calibrated to that impact that should be of concern

that said 3pt fg% seems to overgenerate
2/8/2009 7:02 PM
If assists were working more realistically, fg% and 3pt% would be lower.

Or, better yet, if defense worked better, people would miss more shots, lowering the percentages along with assists - and in the process, have more rebounds.

But yeah, I agree.

He's consistently causing me to foul more than him (way more on occasion). He's got 1800 pf in 19.2k min, I've got 1230 in 19.4k min. FTA are closer, but I've still got the edge with almost 3000 and him slightly under 2700. Makes no sense that it would go the opposite way of expectation every time we meet.

It's not an indication of randomness being realistic by being random - it's an indication of outliers being the rule.

and the PFs are out of whack - and how about that 3pt shooting for both teams - how many different outliers should we expect per game? - and these are macro outliers not just one player's behavior but the entire team
2/10/2009 9:53 AM
I had a 98 pts combined first quarter, that's pretty whacky
