Right now I'm in a single season 1987 progressive, where I'm using 1b Glen Davis (B/C at 1st nothing at 2b) at 2b part time to take advantage of his hot bat.

He's started 19 games at 2nd (26 at 1st): 168 innings .957%. But: 180ab's 15hr 49rbi .324avg 1.000ops. So, like you, am giving up some defense for good O.

My other option was starting Neifi Perez. He would have been solid in the field, but had no bat, especially compared to a .300 30 home run hitter. Good Luck, hopefully your experiment can be just as successful.

We're 69 games in (40-29)and in the Division and Wild Card hunt. I really am tempting fate here.

Have R.Ramirez and Foley splitting time at short, moving Samuel (B/B+ only rating)over when both get below 93%.
Have Samuel filling in for 3b Bell, when he gets below 93%.
Have G.Davis and K.Hernandez platooning at 1b, while Davis fills in for Samuel when he shifts to ss or 3rd.

So far it has all panned out. But man, that's alot of micromanaging. I have been hurt far more by Power (0-5) as a starter and Berenguer (6 losses and 4 bs) as my ex-closer & current setup man.

I am gonna bump this thread, if anyone has any interesting OOP success or miserable failure stories, feel free to tell them here.  Also, stats are always fun

My 1987 team finished w/ 96 wins and took the WC, 5 games behind 1st place Cleve.
We took the 1st round from a 108 win team, then ran into Cleve, who won 4-2 and then they lost in WS.

Here are the fielding stats from regular season:

I don't normally plan to play players OOP, but in Progressives things happen that require out-of the box moves.
I must admit, I really do enjoy the strategy part of playing players in non-rated positions.

After the last update, I actually hope certain players are not rated at some secondary positions.
A D-D- rated 1bman tends to hurt more than a D D 3rd baseman playing OOP and not rated at 1st.
But that's just my observation...

Since we are talking OOP... anyone want to hazard a guess as to how a C/B+ OF will do at 1B?

I don't know for sure, but i am guessing a C or C- fielder with C or so range.   Again, that is just my guess, but i would not at all be surprised if he performed much better.  I am in quite a few progressive leagues and there have been plenty of times i have had to play average to below average outfielders at 1B with little problem.

he'll do fine....  he'll play like a C-/B 1b or something close to that

2 seasons ago I played Yaz62 (C-/B at OF, unrated at 1B) at first... 162 games, 5 minus plays and 8 errors.

Then last season I played Yaz63 (B-/B- at OF, unrated at 1B) at first... 154 games, 6 errors and 15 minus plays.

In other words, you won't notice much of a difference.

I'm have a dilemma in a prog that I'm not sure of. I have:

2B: Dave Cash (B+/A-)
3B: Graig Nettles (B+/A)

I need to construct a middle infield out of those guys. At first I was thinking of moving Cash to SS and Nettles to 2B and take a smaller hit at two places, but now looking at it again just moving Nettles to short for the one bigger hit is better in general? Does anyone have/remember the % penalties of shifting and moving up the D spectrum?
