However, I found this interesting(I was hoping his arm fell off and he was unable to pitch longer than he did).

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Gay-Rod broke out of it this year and had a huge post season.

Even batting cleanup he's like an afterthought in this lineup. The fans DON'T expect him to hit and are happily suprised when he does. Really no pressure on him.

Told you!

Something I noticed last night that may have been a co-incidence or maybe it's an attempt to "socialize" A-Roid. After he hit the big homer, and everyone celebrated with him, he sat on the bench by himself while the rest of the team went back to the rail to watch the game. Jeter, being the Baseball God that he is, goes to A-Roid, says something and A-Roid joins him at the rail. May be nothing or maybe the Yanks have been trying to get him to quit setting himself off from the team.

How different things would have been if the "god" had done that when Arod first got there.

No idea. But you can't integrate those who don't want to be integrated. If you can trust Torre to tell the truth, A-Roid liked being on his own island. A couple of things have happened over the last few years(A-Roid crawling back and signing a deal with the Yanks after opting out/the steroid admission) that may have changed that. Not to mention Bonds being completely ostracized by baseball.

Not sure you can trust Torre to tell the truth. He's definitely a Jeter guy.

I've read other accounts where Jeter gave Arod the cold shoulder from the first moment of his arrival.

No doubt about Torre/Jeter.

I recall the Mets saying they dropped out of the A-Roid sweepstakes with the Rangers because he was making demands that would have created a 1 and 24 situation.

Yeah, the last thing the 1 and 24 Yankees need is for ARod to make them into a 1 and 1 and 23.
