Read Morris Engelberg's DiMaggio bio next. Talk about two sides to a story. I read both and they were both very good.

And Douglas Wilson was on deck? Does McDowell get better pitches to hit becase Wilson owns Dawkins?

I read The Bible regularly.

Just finished Red Mandarin Dress by Qiu Xiaolong. I read all of his Inspector Chen mystery novels. Chen is a poet and a cop in Shanghai. Fun stuff if you like mysteries and have an interest in literature and contemporary Chinese culture. (O.K., that's probably all of one person on this site - me.)

Amen on the Bible!

I'm currently teaching and living in Shanghai, so I will check RMD out.

Just finished A Day in the Bleachers by Arnold Hano. Quick read. Fun story about a group of fans watching the Indians and the Giants play in the first game of the '54 WS. Part of the magic was being there when Mays robbed Wertz.

Finished The Gathering Storm two days ago. 12th book of the Wheel of Time series. Liked it. If you are a Robert Jordan/Wheel of Time fan I'd be interested in hearing your opinion.

Just finished two histories by David McCullough. The Great Bridge and 1776.

The first is the story of the Brooklyn Bridge. The second about the continental army's amazing survival in 1776 while being pursued by British forces between Bunker Hill and Trenton.

1776 should be required reading in every high school in America
