And yes, players use a TON of caffeine because it also enhances performance, just to a lesser degree than amphetamines. If you read the drug agreement you'll see that drugs like weed and heroin are grouped separately as drugs of abuse. Major league players aren't tested for them unless there is probable cause. Amphetamines, on the other hand, are not in that group and players are tested for them in the same way that they are tested for steroids--everyone in spring and then some players randomly throughout the season.Have you ever taken amphetamines on a regular basis?

Look at how long Phil Nevin and Paul Konerko took to get established. Also, am I the only one concerned that Gordon, who had done squat in the majors for four seasons, had a breakout year the same year Melky Cabrera joined the team? David Lough is not that highly touted, nor that talented. What you have is a guy hitting his peak on a team that had a vacancy for him. Nothing more. It's telling he's probably the one who doesn't make the team this year.

Now let's see. Who would you take? A rotation of Shields, Guthrie, Vargas, Duffy and Davis or a rotation of Verlander, Scherzer, Sanchez, Fister and Porcello? The Royals have lost Santana and Chen and added Vargas, hardly what anyone would call an improvement. It's not even close man, so stop already. You're just drinking blue kool-aid.
