One of the other threads on here over the past couple of days touched upon the value of IFA's versus the draft with respect to where the best major league players come from. So just for fun, I took a look at a couple of my teams to see how my players on my major league roster came into being. This was kind of interesting.

This is similar to another thread which I had going for a while "How Did YOU Build Your Team?" (which seems to have disappeared from inactivity), but with a twist. That thread was how you acquired the players for your major league roster. This thread is how they came into the world to begin with.

So here goes. Format is:

Round - number of players - (overall pick) ----> for draftees
IFA - number of players - (signing bonus) ----> for IFA's
Original ----> Created upon inception of the world

You should also note what season your world is in, because younger worlds will tend to have more "original players" still active.

Mantle Season 15

Round 1 - 9 players - (11, 8, 12, 22, 6, 9, 30, 13, 22)
Round 1* - 3 players - (38, 45, 33)
Round 2 - 4 players - (57, 67, 73, 71)
Round 3 - 3 players - (103, 104, 91)
Round 16 - 1 player - (510)
IFA - 4 players - ($10.9m, $9.5m, $13.2m, $7.6m)
Original - 2 players

26 players listed because one is on the DL.

The round 16 guy must have been a DITR (platoon catcher). I traded for him. I had no idea he was a round 16 guy until I checked for this thread.

Cooperstown Season 13

Round 1 - 8 players - (8, 10, 13, 16, 10, 8, 15, 11)
Round 2 - 3 players - (65, 61, 65)
Round 3 - 1 player - (90)
IFA - 5 players - ($806k, $4m, $16m, $18m, $4.2m)
Original - 9 players

26 players listed because one guy will be promoted from the minors in a couple of days, so he'll be a core member of my roster for most of the season.

Gehrig (Season 15)

Round 1 - 11 players (25, 17, 2, 17, 26, 6, 30, 16, 31, 32, 10)
Round 2 - 1 Player (62)
Round 3 - 2 Players (89, 101)
Round 4 - 1 Player (138)
IFA - 5 Players ($3.5m, $10.5m, $7.3m, $3.4m $3.1m)
Original - 5 players

Of these players, 16 were acquired by trade, 6 through FA, 1 was a Rule 5 pick, and 1 was an original player.
One player was actually drafted by me and retained. Whoopee.

MG (End of Season 14)

Round 1 - 5 players (14, 16, 19, 21, 27)
Round 1* 4 players (35, 39, 40, 42)
Round 2 - 3 players (50, 54, 74)
Round 6 - 1 player (319) [defensive catcher]
IFA - 6 players (2.5, 4.0, 5.1, 11.5, 12.0, 15.9)
Original - 6 players

Note that I have never drafted in the Top 10 in this world ... also, the world has a high spend on training, so there are still some solid Originals out there (although I do like to value shop for FA pitchers, so I might have more than most)

Lasorda (Season 14)



Round 1 - 9 players(1, 9, 11, 13, 18, 18, 33, 38, 48)

Round 2 - 2 players (58, 60)

Round 3 - 1 player (90)

Round 4 - 3 players (118, 132, 145)
