IFA 3 players ($4.5, $1.9, $3.2)

FA 1 player ($3.5)

Never been much into the IFA's so I was suprised I had 3 all aquired via trades.

The FA must have been a guy who was not drafted or not signed because he was not an IFA and has no draft history.

26 players listed because one is on the DL.

The round 23 guy was a double DITR (ace RP).

* denotes acquired by trade. I put a ton of effort in trading over the years, especially early when I just starting to figure the game out. My team is kind of like the guy that turned a paper clip into a house.

14 players on my ML roster were acquired by trade.

I've been arguing in my WC that the draft is the real way to build a team and that's where a true tanker should be paying attention. The analogy I made with putting a cap on IFA budgets is that it helps a little but really doesn't change a whole lot. It would be like building an expensive, high tech security system around your chimney to prevent intruders. Yes, it helps prevent bad guys from coming down your chimney, but shouldn't you focus more on the front door?

IFA-7 players- $7.6M, 6.0M, 5.6M, 5.5M(Rule 5), 6.0M, 8.3M, 701k(trade).

Great thread tec. I'm a bit surprised by these lists. I thought there would be more IFAs, but it seems most rosters are only stocked with about 20% IFAs. Also, it seems you can get quite a few effective MLers in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, but after that, while a few do sneak in from some later rounds, you can just about forget a player getting to the ML.

I find it interesting so far my team has the most IFAs, but also by FAR the most 2nd round picks. More 2nd round picks than 1st rounders too. I didn't realize I was so heavy into 2nd round picks.

4 of the 8 IFAs I have were acquired via trade.

Also, Tike Collier is the guy I have drafted in the 16th round. I didn't draft him. He was a 6 year Milb FA. I signed him and immediately put him on my ML roster. My starting C is an All Star bat with below average defense, so I like having a good defensive backup.

I made a huge push for the world series and traded for a lot of older talent and picked up a few proven guys in FA. The 14th rounder was a DITR Reliever.

We're in the final stretch, so this is just players who were on the team before rosters expanded. There are 26 because the 7th overall pick up there has been on the 60-day DL for much of the year. My team is currently 93-56 with this group.

The only 3 guys I brought up for roster expansion were an IFA platoon catcher ($410K), an original player, and a Round 6 pick (184).

Rd 4: 1 (111)

IFA: 8 (1.5, 4, 5.6, 6.2, 8, 8.7, 9, 10.2)

Original: 2

I like this thread Tec. Only one player remains from when i took over in s13, so they all are from trades and free agency.

I wonder more about the star players. How many allstars are drafted vs IFA's?

There is a team in Gehrig that I want to look this info up for. In the last 4 seasons he has spent over $20 M every season on IFA's maxing out this season on a $32 M pitcher. While keeping a below $40 M payroll and winning only .403 of his games.

Of note is that the Round 23 guy is a 3 time All Star, and a perennial fireman of the year candidate.
