I'm commish of the league McCovey was in...and a few more interesting tidbits:

-- We're only 3 seasons old, but for what it's worth, Stretch broke the league home run record (previously 64 by '61 Mantle)
-- crazystengel's Detroit team won their division by 2 games
-- Despite this, McCovey did not win the league MVP award (finished 2nd behind Mays)
-- More amazingly, McCovey did not make the All Star team, nor did he win the Silver Slugger award

The latter is likely due to the fact that both awards (All Star and SS) are position-based, and McCovey split his time among three positions: 1B, LF, RF.

I got a fun performance out of Highball in my second or third OL team. It's his PH best, including a 0.99 WHIP and a 1.48 ERA. Every time he came in it was like watching Jeff Suppan throw a perfect game.

Also, more recently, this entire team: http://www.whatifsports.com/mlb-l/playerstats.asp?teamid=1001535 In the playoffs, they only lost 4 games. Unfortunately they were the most important 4 :( The regular season still owned though, not enough taters imo but there's always room for improvement

Also Buck Freeman being really terrible at getting on base, that kind of stunk too

                                          G   W-L   SV    IP      ERA   OAV    WHIP   K/9    BB/9      $
Andrew Miller '09 (L)    57  14-0    3    88.1   4.08   .242     1.43   6.72   4.79   1.39M

It was a $60 mil cap, had to fill a roster of 2000's Marlins.  Had one start, the rest of his appearances in long relief.  I did not manipulate any game in which I could purposely get him vulture wins; besides, who would want to with him?  It was completely fluky...but sure fun.

Here is my Sims Fun
RAY CALDWELL 1919

His season ending line
G-65/W-0/LOSE-0/SAVES-0/IN-61/BF-254/TP-854/HITS-42/EARNED RUNS-20/HR-6/BB-25/SO-21/OAV.186/OBP-.237/SLG-.296/WHIP-1.10/ERA-2.95

THEN HE PLAYED IN 9 PLAYOFF GAME ALL ZEROS AGAIN

So his season total + playoffs 74 games played ZERO WINS,ZERO LOST,ZERO SAVES
NOW THAT IS SOME FUNNY AND STRANGE STUFF
I dont believe I have every had a pitcher pitch in 20 games and have ZERO,ZERO,ZERO let alone 74

In the recently completed 5 Man Rotation league my 1927 Ruth had 87 HR and 227 RBI, plus another 7 dingers and 16 RBI in the postseason. But another owner's 1927 Gehrig nosed him out for MVP!

Through the first 9 games of a $255M league, my three starters (Johnson, Joss, Mathewson) have all made 3 starts each.  They all have identical 3.38 ERAs, yet their records are 2-0, 1-1, and 0-2.

My team in a 1974 progressive is a strong, but not outrageous 88-35 (.718). Pitcher Dock Ellis is also a strong, but not outrageous 3.06/.248/1.12, but has had an inordinate amount of luck in compiling a 20-1 record. I don't think I've ever seen a better winning percentage.

Recently I was in a theme league. 120 mil, 70 mil from any team, 25 mil for anybody from that same season, and 25 mil from the same franchise. My team was 1902 Pirates - the Yankee killers. In the playoffs - round 1 - we lost the first 2, but fought back to take next 3 games. In the LCS we were down 3-2 and came back to win the last 2. In the world series we lost the first 3, looking seriously overmatched by the 27 Yankees. Could they do it again? Sure enough- they won the final 4 to take the sries. By the way the other 2 teams were the 61 Yankees and 41 Yankees - we won 9 must win games.

From the just-finished 3 Golden Rules League ($120M, no hitters w/ OBP over .384, pitchers w/ WHIP of 1.08 or higher and minimum 4-man rotation):

The ideal LH Specialist - George Sherrill '09, 37 games, 13 IP, 0.00 ERA, 0.77 WHIP, .174 OAV, 1.38 BB/9

'07 Akinori Otsuka's odd line - 25 games, 13.2 IP, 7.90 ERA, 1.68 WHIP, .371 OAV, 0.00 BB/9
