Offensive philosophy for Safeco Topic

If you were building a team for safeco, what would you look for offensively?

I am mostly looking for base stealers, walkers, and guys with high slugging. I don't anticipate teams having very good defense so hitting into dp isn't a major concern.

Any opinions are welcome.

Do you anticipate any of the other teams starting threads asking what kind of players they should draft? You might be in trouble if they all have me draft their teams.

Over/under games TrentOnJoe would win against 23 Boogers. *61*

Pick good hitters. Yes, walks steals and XBH have more value in Safeco but don't pick inferior hitters just because they have the right strengths. I like to draft some strong hitters who aren't quite fulltime, they're more useful in Safeco because they'll need less rest.

Thanks rbow, I didn't think about the reduction in PA.

I would put a premium on speed and base stealing. If you are not aiming to reduce PA, then I would go with a different park. A big advantage of parks like safeco and petco is u can go with fewer pa and ip.

pick Tony Womack.

The only time I've had a batter win a Triple Crown was in Safeco. It was the Babe, but still it was in Safeco in an OL. You can only plan for so much based on your home park; a lot depends on the parameters of the league, and what you're likely to face.

make sure your HR hitters can run, their HRs will turn into triples instead of doubles :)

Really? Is that what happens? I always wondered what happened to suppressed hits.

i am not 100% sure but i think so... willie mays always has a crapload of triples for me in parks like safeco

This post is a little old but I'm just curious how many PA and IP less you can usually draft in a place like safeco? 50 or more PA per player? and maybe 50-100 total IP?

In a recently finished league, my Safeco team throw 1,000 less pitches than a team from Wrigley.   I think that is roughly 65 RL innings.

draft the following:
Willie McGee, Bip roberts, lance johnson for your OF
Ozzie Smith SS
Bip roberts 2nd
George Davis 3rd
Keith hernandez 1st
Roseboro C

That will be $10 for "Consulting Services". I take check, cash or gift cards

How about PA differences for your team?
