I hear a lot of people whining about Biggio not making the HOF. I know he had 3,060 hits and all but does a career .281 hitter who never won an MVP merit consideration?

How would you compare Jim Palmer(HOF) and Mike Mussina(no HOF yet),they seem remarkably close, no?

I'm for a less inclusive HOF.   Palmer probably isn't in mine.   Now, onto the question.  I'm unfair to Mussina because I'm a Yankee fan.  First, I've never seen a pitcher cruise thru 4-5-6 innings and explode in the time it takes me to walk to fridge and grab a beer.   I'm sure it's an exaggeration when I say I know I saw him pitch 5 scoreless innings with one hit then give up a walk, a hit, homer and then another.   He could turn a 4-0 lead into a 6-4 deficit before I had time to cuss at him.   I eventually refused to watch him pitch for the Yanks.   Second, they are pretty similar.

Forgot one thing.   Mussina also once said "I did my job.  Talk to the other guys" after a close, low-scoring loss.   You don't do that. 

I highly doubt the Yanks will be in contention in September. They have no 2b or 3b to speak of. Tex is done at 1b. Who knows what Jeter has left. Other than Gardner, the OF is a bunch of old guys who could fall apart at any moment. Sabathia looked awful last year, and they have no proven closer.
