Well, both of you should be very happy.  They actually do exactly what both of you asked.  You just haven't gotten one.

I'm happy for them, if that helps.

I actually like the idea of a DITR in pre-determined rounds.  I say one in each round after the third.    All guaranteed to get at least 50 splits(since that really seems to be the "missing" ingredient for DITR).  Never get a DITR?  You probably should have signed your late round draft choices.

Thanks for idea, ApolloT23.

50 splits doesn't turn them into HOFers, dumbassinahole.

Make it a line-item in the player's transaction history then. Seems like a simple change.
+1

I always make a note on the player card. Usually something like "DIRT S16 - still trash".

Because most of them are still trash, even after the DITR event.

And as a side note, I really appreciate some of the crazy things I've seen in the notes of DITR's. Erffdogg, in particular, had a great "DIRT" note system with his Seattle team in Major Leagues. "This guy is dead." "Well, cross him off then."

MikeT, you have been around a while, in your estimation how many 10+ round players have made an impactful splash at the major league level? For that matter, how many 5+ round guys? I know some have been brought up by owners but do you know of any that have actually had a career?

If you're asking about DITR, several.   If you're asking about regular draftees, I've had one 10th+ round guy make the bigs and play a role(defensive SS).   I've had a few(4-5) role players from round 5-10.   Obviously none were/are stars.  This guy had the longest career.

As you can see, he was nothing special but he did get almost 400 BL IP before elbow surgery effectively ended his career.

Okay, we know that a few guys have made it. But wouldn't it be interesting if some 17th round guy became a DITR and developed into a 5-8 productive season guy for you?

I said "If you're asking about DITR, several."  Two I remember(Hubbard is still with me, I've left the other world).

And this 848k IFA is on the way:

I've had a few DITR at ML level.  This guy has one all-star appearance so far: www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx

This DITR was a 15th rounder and almost won Fireman of the Year for me last season:

And Billy Breslow was a 10th rounder, but after his DITR his hitting ratings project to 64/89/52/55/78, a bat few teams would sneeze at.

This one worked out to be a reasonably effective bullpen guy, shuffled around anywhere from long relief to closer.  He performed around league average (1.41 WHIP, 4.39 ERA) and was a 20th round pick.

MikeT, looking at the one guy you posted bring up another question.

How do the generate 0 speed? The guy literally has "no speed"?

7/13/2010 9:28 AM
Much like 100 does not mean faster than the speed of light, 0 does not mean as quick as rock.   0 is just the slowest possible speed an HBD player can have.  Like the Molina Brothers.
