*Roberto Ramirez was my own IFA (S26, $8.2M), who got snagged in the Rule 5 draft in S30. I then traded for him that season. Harry Hernandez was my own IFA (S22, $7.2M), who was traded away at the start of S35, but then was traded for to re-join the Twins during the stretch run.
^Oswaldo Ynoa made his MLB debut in the playoffs this season.

Another ML player with significant PA (who didn't make the playoff roster for this round) was a Rule 5 selection this season. Another was a WW pickup.

Only after doing this did I realize how much of my team is made up of other people's castoffs!

WW - 1. Defensive C
IFA - 2. 22m P, 225k(DITR) 1B
Trade - 3. 3B and a couple of relief pitchers
FA - 9.
Draft - 10. 8 1st rounders(only one above 14th pick), supplemental(RP), 3rd(D-SS)

Most of the drafted guys were between 14-23. A couple were late 20s/early 30. The Great Jimmy Powell was the exception(3rd pick).

Trading is difficult in Coop as there aren't any fish. FA is expensive because trading is difficult. And IFA is costly because trading is difficult and FA are expensive. I've grossly overpaid for at least two pitchers and, if you look at my team, you'll wonder how it works. I've just tried to find value where I could. Still have 125m payroll this season.

Portland Thunder Wolves (World Riley - beginning Season 40)

This is my 16th season as owner, won division last three seasons, playoffs six out of last seven.

Drafted - 19
Nine first rounders, three top-ten picks, the highest was #7. Four supplemental rounders. And six lower-round picks - 2, 2, 4, 4, 5, 16 (DiTR).

IFA - 2

Free Agents - 2

Trade (into minors) - 2

Team built around defense and pitching. I used to have more free agents and even made a few trades back when I made a WS run, but that version of the team aged out and I started promoting from within two seasons ago. This version of the team is currently at $58.5 mil payroll, 2/3 of that in the veteran pitchers.

Because of the way it was done, I think the Charge have a few more runs in them. I only have 5 guys on the "wrong" side of age(36+ for pitchers, 32+ for hitters) and a couple of them aren't key players. One is The Great Jimmy Powell and he's still dealing.
10/18/2016 7:57 PM
Decided to do Mantle. Similar success but MWR is lower and owners are less "fluid" on what type of players they like/dislike.

WW - 2. Not key players.
FA - 9. Mostly pitching. Mostly cheap RP.
Trade - 6. Four deals for players that didn't suit the other owner.
IA - 3. 431k, 2.2m, 24m. The two cheapies are my D-SS.
Draft - 5. 4 1st rounders(3, 7, 12, 22) and a 4th rounder(D-Catcher)

After my 2 WS wins in 28/30, I made a couple of deals and did a rebuild. We were old and expensive. I was very concerned with the MWR in S32 and switched from a hitter's park(Scottsdale) to a pitcher's park(Honolulu) because I hoped to steal some close one.

Anyway, I've always said never trust the user who says "Always". There's more than one right way to skin a cat. Or build a HBD winner. You have to adapt to what the world. And what you can do within it.

That Coop team hasn't made the playoff in like 20 seasons, right?

That would be incorrect.

Tampa Bay Angry Dragons (Spahn - Season 37)
Last season ended a streak of 23 consecutive seasons finishing at least .500. Today is budgets, so roster isn't finalized, but this is what I anticipate it will be opening day:
How Acquired Number of Players
Waivers 0
Rule 5 0
Drafted 8 (4 first round, 2 supplemental round, 2 second round
IFA 9 (17.6, 15.9, 1.0, 23.0, 10.1, 16.2, 20.0, 0.691, 2.1)
Trade into minors, developed and promoted 6
Trade into majors 2
Free agent 0

It is incredibly rare for me to sign Major League free agents. I do bid on guys every off-season though, and I usually lose the bidding.
