Outfielder to shortstop defense Topic

Roughly how would an OF A/A+ field at shortstop? I've got a league where I have to play one there and am looking to see if an A/A+ OF is better then a D-/D- rating at SS. I am guessing it's the OF but figured I would check in here first.

He'd probably be a  bad d-/d- SS.

My gorilla math puts him at:

b-/b @3b
d+/C- @ 2b
D---/d-- @ SS

D- is the lowest grade possible and as such can mean "almost D" or "would be Z, if there was a Z."

How close is your D-/D- SS to being a D/D?  The cutoff point for fielding between a D and D- SS is around .890/.891; for range it's 4.44/4.45.  Your guy might not be horrible if he's close to those numbers.

Both with SS ratings are around .811/3.3 not too hot.

Yeah, that's pretty bad.

I think you need to spot your of/or ss when you have a sp with a high so/9 rate so that not as many balls get into play. lessen the odds for disaster as it were.

it will be a comedy of errors, but what the heck...throw a Yount CF season in there....he actually was a good SS

It's actually Willie Mays along with Tim Keefe pitching here are some results:

SS: 19 errors and 2 - plays
3B: 13 Errors 1+,2-
2B: 17 errors, 1-
