Hey guys- Yes Iam a newbie but wondering why Ruth is only  an OF but not rated as a pitcher since he split time between both.

You'll find a lot of players in similar predicaments. The SIM does not allow transition between pitcher and position player. The SIM considers them to be one or the other, depending on greater value

The reason is... Pitchers fatigue by IP, and hitters fatigue by PA. If you used the OF Ruth as a pitcher, he would never fatigue, and could pitch nearly every game.

It's a flaw in the sim, but one that affects only a small number of player seasons.
