If this was Gordie Howe, he'd chop off the thumb and bat without it. Gawdamn pansy.

You can get a lot of blow for $25,000,000 per year.

Too many drug options in CA.   Going back to TX where peyote is plentiful.

There are probably a lot of baseball players and pro atheletes who have addiction issues. Hamilton just likes to use his for pity and for excuses. If he wanted to remain with Texas, why sign the contract with the Angels?

This.

Texas wasn't giving him that sort of money.   And now CA is paying him to play somewhere else.

I guess this squares TX up on the ARod deal when they bid against themselves then starting paying the Yankees to let him play for them.

Right MIke. In fact, I think Hamilton just took the biggest contract and decided he didn't feel like playing. I don't think it had anything to do with drug use. Or maybe he decided to party it up again because he didn't feel like playing. The worst kind of player...not a team guy and simply doesn't care. At least the guys who used roids are TRYING.

Not what I get from Hamilton at a all.

Well, I don't think anyone wants to be addicted to drugs or alcohol.

But, as I said, he has to know where that drink or line of coke will lead him.  Take steps to make it not happen.  People with far less means overcome addiction.

True, but conversely also, those with far more means never do.

Either way, overcoming addiction will not be easy.   One has to want to do it.    Hamilton hasn't displayed much desire to do so.

Back to the DL for the next month.  More time to spend with his demons.

Released.

Truth is, he went from vaunted prospect to drug-addled wretch to MLB star. Considering where he once was, he did pretty well. Of course, without baseball, maybe he has no reason to stay sober. Could be Dwight Gooden within a few months.
