Here are the career stats for 2 current players.  I'm sure you can figure out who they are, but a few guesses would be cool.

Player #1: 169-86, 3.32 ERA
Player #2: 165-87, 3.42 ERA

I actually started a thread a few months ago in the MLB forum on the similarities between these two.  Here's what I posted (replacing the real names with #1 and #2):

It surprised me how close these two are. I'd assumed #1's numbers would be quite a bit better than #2's. Pretty much a dead heat in every category, though -- #2 gives up more walks, that's about it.

#1 must be Halladay. Would that make #2 Santana?

Had to look it up. #2 is a bit surprising...

OK, Santana is only 133-69, 3.10 ERA.

there are actually a bunch of players with a very similar record (157-88, 3.57 would be one guy, 150-83, 3.18 would be another)

never would have guessed #2 without a bunch more guesses

He sneaks up on you... If I hadn't read the article I linked in another thread I would not have had a clue.

He would be closing in on 200 if he hadn't been hurt a couple seasons... nice solid career.

I guessed right. I picked him up 1st pick in recent progressive draft. Looking forward to many good seasons from him.

Never would have guessed...

Ok, who is it already? The post has been going long enough.  No need for mystery here.

Tim Hudson

By the way, exact same W-L record as a fella named Koufax.
2/12/2011 10:13 PM
Good for Hudson then. With that said, I'd take Koufax or Halliday anyday over Tim Hudson.
2/12/2011 10:36 PM
Any day?  'Cause for half of his career Koufax was nothing special at all.
2/13/2011 10:56 PM
To be fair, Hudson has spent a few years in the NL now and Halladay has only had 1.
