The Lament of Speedy '76 Larry Lintz Topic

In 1976, Larry Lintz played in 68 games for the Oakland A's.  He stole a whopping 31 bases at a decent 74% success rate.

Oddly enough, he only had 4 PAs that year.  4!!!  1 At Bat, 2 Walks, and 1 SH.  Insane.  But such is the life of a designated Pinch Runner.

Unfortunately, those 4 PAs insure that '76 Lintz will never see the light of day on WIS Baseball.  I wish there was some sort of backdoor way he could be added in light of all the games he played and the terrific basestealing success that he had.  But them's the breaks.  :-)

a 74% sb sucess rates isn't much use in an OL.

There may be better players to draft instead of Lintz... but sometimes you just want "that guy." I was just reading about Lintz the other day in Charlie Finley's biography. Had just enough skills to get to the majors, but based on his statistics, looks like he did it all on natural talent.

Boontone, read the other A's Dynasty book.  They're both great reads.  Another one you can use is Matt alexander.

Use 74 or 75 when he played a lot. Herb Washington (1974) was their first designated runner. A track guy. Never batted or played the field
That is crazy, he played in 105 career games, but never had 1 single PA or time in the field, yet he stole 31 career bases.
