What did WIS do with 1994 stats? Topic

In the real 1994, Jeff Bagwell and Barry Bonds had roughly 475 PA apiece and Greg Maddux pitched 202 innings. In the WIS database, Bagwell and Bonds appear with about 675 PA apiece for 1994 and Maddux with 288 IP.

But the hitters' 2b, 3b and HR numbers are not similarly pro-rated to a 162-game equivalent. Why not? And what, if any, difference does it make? The team roster 162-game season projections show the pro-rated hit totals that the database does not.

Will Bagwell and Bonds play as if they were 50 HR hitters, or only 35 HR hitters?

Not sure why WIS does not show the prorated stats in the search as it does the prorated AB/PAs, but I can assure you that those stats are prorated in the actual sim performance.  To give you a for instance my '94 Fred mcgriff Real Life 34 HR in 113 games has 15 HR in 43 sim games.

Furthermore once you draft your team the real life stats for '94 appear to show as the prorated numbers:

Player           SN     B G    AB   R     2B 3B HR RBI BB SO HBP SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS PA SF SH

McGriff, Fred 1994 L 161 603 115 192 36 1 48 134 71 108 1 10 4 .318 .389 .623 1.012 680 4 0

...because PA are listed in the draft center as PA/162 and most of the other stats are not, they are just the raw stat. They are prorated in your team stats page (like bbondsmvp notes above) and it states so there as well.

Also, the raw numbers aren't the ones used for the at-bat calculations.  The rate stats are used, and those don't change when stats are prorated to x/162.

I think the same problem occurs for '81 players.

Thanks all.

It's weird that I never noticed this before in all these years. They should revoke my H of F status...

I just noticed also that just4me is a posting Prospect with 409 posts, and I've got 381. Could this mean that I'm only 19 posts from getting a promotion? Oh joy, oh joy... Or wait: Isn't a Veteran a higher rank than a Prospect? And, if so, why is just4me only a Prospect with more posts? Is there some kind of discrimination going on here? (Please don't tell me where to look this up, I don't think I really want to know.)

No. People must favorite you a lot or something or people block just4me a lot. I'm pretty sure that there are some posting prospects with over 1000 posts, but that discussion is for a different forum....

'81 Tim Raines is the same way, he has 100+ steals one selected.
