Does a catcher's ability to call a game have any bearing in these simulations?

My starting C's have always had a better ERA than the AAA catchers I back them up with, but that could be mostly because Skippy has them coming into blowout games along with inferior pitchers.

Anyone done any research into this?

Catchers have no affect on pitcher performance.
