Uh Hakeem is pretty damn good in the Sim.

I would say Isiah is up there for his low FG% and D

Great question that I couldn't begin to answer....always wondered why Bob Slackadoo always underperformed...

hakeem is one of the top 5 centers of all-time, arguably top 3.

he is no where close to that in the sim.  He doesn't even sniff the top 10.  Therefore, Hakeem.

I've found Hakeem to be quite useful, even the 85-86 version gets me great D top of averaging a double-double. Here are the stats from one of my teams:

Look at Dream's top 2 seasons...he vastly underperforms every time.

I could also throw Grant Hill into that.  Hill's top seasons are LeBron like and he isn't 60% of LeBron.

I'll say Pettit, Barry, Cousy, Maravich, and Baylor to some extent. Modern day players include Iverson. All very good players inrl but are considered by many as "Poison Pill Players" in the sim. Not saying you can't build a winning team with these guys, it's just tougher now with the current state of the sim.

Re Hill and Dream - I think it all depends on how the team is built w/ these guys. Someone smarter than me could probably make a pretty good team w/ them, and have them excel, but I'm not even gonna try now. I'd even lump "Nique in w/ those 2 as well as guys who u can win with but it's tougher than others, but easier than the other guys I mentioned above.. if that makes sense.

I think AI performs exactly as he did in real life - high volume low efficiency team killing black hole

Some pretty good #s for Dream in this 42 million league.

That is my Olajuwon in the NCAA league and he is doing well because I paired him with Elvin Hayes and because he doesn't have to go against Wilt, Kareem, Russell, Moses and Howard every game.  It isn't a fair representation since leibo didn't allow UNC, UCLA, and Kansas in the league, and no one could have Moses and Howard since they didn't go to college and no one would have Russell because you could not build a viable team using San Francisco.

how'd the whole team do?  What was their reb/gm differentials versus the entire league?  Where did they rank in offensive fg%?  Where did they rank in total FTA?  Did they make the playoffs?  If so, how far did they go?

Isolated stats are misleading.  Just seeing him averaging almost 15rpg leads me to believe that that team is relatively weak in rebounding and therefore not a good team.

This is why Hakeem is not elite:

The higher usage the player, the more an average or below average efg% hurts you.  Hakeem has two relatively decent efg% seasons (over 52%) and no excellent ones (55%).

Mid-range offensive players are relatively blah.  Give me Paint or give me Threes.  Hakeem's best two efg% seasons are more heavily midrange than paint.  He does have some good paint seasons, but (to be continued later)...

Rebounds:  If a player is going to be part of your team and play either PF or C, he needs to rebound better than Hakeem does.  There are a couple of good Hakeem seasons for boards (that aren't elite), but again, high usage, low efg%.

On top of that, Hakeem is not a monster at getting to the line.  As someone who is likely the highest usage on your team, that is a liability.

On the flip side, Hakeem fouls like fouls are going out of style.  So now you're shifting that balance even further the other way.  Foul trouble is the quickest way to allow outliers to win what should be a pretty straight forward die roll.

If you could pick and choose Hakeem's paint from his rookie year, his boards from 89-90, his efg% from 93-94, his fta from... I can't remember which... and his lowest fouls... then yah, you'd have a fantastic WIS center.  But it'd still be inferior to several Dwight Howard, Moses, Admiral, Kareem, Shaq & Wilt seasons.  Even Mailman, Ewing, Boozer, Zo & Kemp deserve consideration before the Dream.  And then there's a smattering of lower usage big men that deserve to be drafted before him just because they do the specialist roles far better.  And that is sad enough to take thread for me.  The only way Hakeem is a Premier guy in this sim is in Progressive leagues.

This is the meat of my team.  It is in a league where your players are based on the college they went to and colleges are exclusive.  UNC, UCLA, and Kansas were all blacklisted.

My team is 4th in the conference and 2nd in the division with a record of 44-34 currently...very competitive division top team has 48 wins and bottom team has 34 wins.
