Broncos - Ware's the defense? Topic

why does Tebow receive so much hate ? bible thumper ,i get that ..I believe in God and we have a working arrangement that i can swear ,drink, watch porn and i appreciate everything he has ever done for me , but i never got why Tebow is so hated?

I don't get the sense Tebow is hated.  He polarizes people on opinions of whether or not he can play - and those who think he can't REALLY try hard to hammer that point home for some reason.

But even the guys who think he can't be an effective NFL QB still praise him as a person.

Lets be honest.....   if they dont recover an onside kick, we are saying how bad is Tebow to lose to the winless Dolphins.  I mean, come on....   he did NOTHING for 57 minutes.  They were being SHUTOUT by the MIAMI F'N DOLPHINS.  Yes...  he did great on the game tying drive, and 2 point play.  But from my perspective, the Dolphins did not seem to care much about allowing the first TD.  They seemed to think it was an "Oh by the way" TD in what was to be a 15-7 win after recovering the onside kick.  But Denver got the kick.  From there, Tebow was good.  But does that really erase 57 awful minutes?

Tebow is simply a winner....and you can't teach that...ride him like a Bronco.....

They used to say that about VY too.  Just sayin'

I also don't like the whole "he turned it on when his team needed it most" angle to explain away 3+ quarters of bad football.  That was a staple of the VY hype as well.  You're the quarterback - your team needs you most for the entire game.  It's nice that he was able to take advantage of the fact that the Broncos were able to stay close despite getting nothing from the offense, but that's not going to happen that often.

I like Tebow and would like to see him succeed, I just hate the hype machine around him (not his fault) and the fact that almost no one can view anything he does objectively.  To his credit, he took responsibility for the fact that they were in a position of needing a miracle comeback in the first place.

I'm pretty sure Tebow wouldn't have lost to the Dolphins by himself no more than he won by himself.    At the end of the day, he accounted for 226 yards and two TDs.   One could argue that he had a better day than two young, highly thought of QB named Stafford and Ryan.  Or two veteran QB named Rivers and Romo.   And, yes, it was against the Dolphins but let's not forget that Denver isn't a powerhouse either(1-4 going into the game).    As a Raider fan, I'd have taken 226 yards, two TDs and no turnovers from my QB yesterday.  I believe that would have led to a win.  And the W is the most important stat.

190 yards - gotta account for the 7 sacks.  But yeah, his overall numbers don't look that bad.  But the first 3+ quarters were brutal and he was very fortunate to be in a situation where the game wasn't out of reach.

I'm not really gonna blame him for all the sacks(admittedly I didn't watch the game).   But that's fine.   He still had a better day than the 4 QB I listed and I think all 4 of them would be listed in the top 10 of NFL QB.    One game is one game.

The thing that would bother me the most is that his passes all fluttered.   Go to a HS game and you're likely to see better spirals. There is a mechanical issue that he has to fix.  It's acceptable to throw lame ducks when you're running for your life.  But, if you're standing in the pocket, throw a spiral like a NFL QB.

I didn't see that much of it either, but the write-ups I've read suggested he was holding on to the ball too long, and given that Orton had only been sacked 9 times, and Miami only had 8 all season coming in, I'm inclined to believe that assessment.

Most running QB do hold the ball too long.   They want to throw it but lack the recognition skills to do it.  So they hold it and, often, run.

Or, as apparently frequently happened in Tebow's case, get sacked.  To his credit, at least he held onto the ball.

7 sacks for 36 yards sounds like he was in the process of running.    There aren't that many 5 step drops that result in sacks.
10/24/2011 10:25 AM

Okay, so he ran AND got sacked.

Tackled behind the line.  But they count as sacks.
