If you're in a situation where you're hitting the team usage penalty for 6-8 minutes a game(because of rookies) is it a good idea to hit the WW to try and fix it?

I never advise hitting the WW. A better idea is to make sure when building the team that you always have 10 usage points on the floor (back up your starters with similar usage tiers).

With your current team, I would attempt to create a situation on your depth chart where this isn't an issue. If that's not possible, then maybe the ww is your best bet. Just remember in the future to keep usage in mind for the full 48 minutes when building your squad.

Bump, with a question for ash-- is there a penalty for having too much usg on the floor? I'm currently in a debate about it in the DH52 forum, and wanted to ask the expert.

In my (relatively limited) experience, if you have too much cumulative usage on the floor (around 120%), turnovers go up and fg% goes down. Is this something you can attest to, or am I reading into something that's not really there?

No, there is no penalty for too much usage. The only negative is wasting money on unused possessions.

Btw, Origin story question: how did the usage tier numbers come to be common knowledge? I know this is a famous thread that certainly gave me my start but not sure how those came to be. Not in knowledge base.

How much total usage is not enough? By this I mean: I put together an 80M team that has starters totalling 13 1/2 usage points. But my team total FGA are only 5450--generally my more successful teams total around 5800-6000 in about 17000 minutes. BTW, this particular team is using the low-usage (13.3) Wilt 71-72. Is he just a bad investment?

it's far more delicate than that. I re-wrote this guide a couple of years ago, encouraging you to not use the usage tiers for anything other than team penalty. You need so much individual usage that you probably could almost never get below 10 usage points in a normal league...

definitely want way more fga than that for an $80m team. You generally end a season between 7k & 8k fgas, so for 17k minutes (plus rookies), I'd say 5,500 is bare minimum I'd shoot for 6800+ for a full 19.3k squad (in normal circumstances). Not sure how you could have that few, honestly.

And yeah, I think that version of Wilt is very overpriced.
