I guess we should also take into account that 98% of Newton's INTs are good throws that are tipped or missed by his WRs. Dalton's are probably all lame ducks.
don't need to, because there's enough support for him in spite of that.

sarcastically exaggerating commentary from me in the past doesn't do anything to change the facts that i just clearly presented.  sure you can arrive at a different conclusion than i did, but probably not in a logically coherent way.

NFL passer rating says Dalton is better.

81.8 to 81.1

I'm not really a big advocate of it but it usually groups QBs about where they belong.   Tebow, BTW, is 80.5.

And passer rating doesn't take into account Newton's 10 rushing TD's.

Here's what I mean:
Top 3-Rodgers, Brady, Brees
Bottom 3-Gabbert, Painter, Bradford

Newton is in the middle with Sanchez, Rivers, Vick.

Sounds about right to me.

Can I quote this when arguing for Tebow?
11/29/2011 2:35 PM
Does Tebow have 10 rushing TD's?

Does he need 10 rushing TDs?

No, but he has more yards per game and a higher average.

Passer rating is sorta like OPS- it gets you in the ballpark but really is quite arbitrary and there are much more accurate super stats to cram a passer's entire performance into one stat.  That's why I use ANY/A, it does a body good.

Good for him, Newton's value isn't completely tied up in his running ability.

That was sort of my point.   Most rational people are going to have Brees, Brady, Rodgers as top 3 and have Gabbert, Painter and Bradford near the bottom(maybe Ponder and Grossman replace one here or there) as "effective QB".    Dalton, Tebow, Newton, Sanchez, Vick and the like all fit somewhere in the middle.   And below Rapey, Manning, Ryan, Stafford.

But stats can prove anything.   Saying ANY/A is "TEH BESTEST" is retarded.   It's just the one you like.

Way to change the argument, deano - err, stine.

We were talking about running stats not being taken into account for QB rating. Tebow may not be running it into the endzone, but he's statistically a better runner than Cam.

Yeah, his passer rating is right there with Tebow and Dalton.   His inability to lead his team really hurts his value.

Good for him, what's your point?

Well, Mike posted that Tebow's not far behind Cam in QB rating and you said "but, but, but QB rating doesn't take into account rushing stats!!!"

So, since YOU brought it up, my point is that argument makes no sense when Tebow is the better runner.
