Here's a doozy. In an OL WS where I'm up two games to one and playing on the road at Kauffman Stadium, due to my crappy starting pitchers, i decided to start my high IP per game relievers (who are head and shoulders better than my reg season starting pitchers) for the rest of the series.

Mind you, the other team's batting average on the seaon against leftys was 30 points less than its average against rightys with virtually no OBP.

So with this in mind, first up was 1992 Dennis Rasmussen (a lefty and a pretty darn good pitcher) whom i chose to start game four. Now Rasmussen has been a lights out stud all season, appearing in 50 games with a 1.45 ERA and had given up only seven runs all season in 43 IP. Plus he was fully rested as he was at 100 percent. So what does he do in his biggest and most important apearance of the year?

He promptly gave up, would you believe, a whopping 16 runs in only three innings, while throwing 90 pitches. And despite my team having scored almost 1300 runs during the regular season, with 242 homers, we lose game four 28-0!!!!!!

Believe it or dont!
I can't believe Sparky left Rasmussen in so long, even with a call pen setting of "1" . Get him out much earlier, throw one of your regular season starters in for 6 innings or so and hope you can claw back into the tame.

Maybe a believe it or don't.....

Here is a breakdown of steals/attempts against my primary catcher in three 34 game intervals (total of 102 games) in a regular league (below)....

He has given up 11 steals on the season, and caught 15 runners (15/26 = 0.577%). Seems to be unusual? Haven't played enough to
know.

The five "worst" catchers in the league -- which I am defining by number of attempted steals -- have given up an average of 242 steals, though they have started an average of 150 games versus my catcher's 102 games.....Pudge ranks 2nd in this league with a 0.545 caught stealing percentage in 77 steal attempts (153 games).

1. 3 SB, 4 CS, 28 games no stolen bases were attempted
2. 4 SB, 6 CS, 27 games no stolen bases were attempted
3. 4 SB, 5 CS, 27 games no stolen bases were attempted

I think he wears a scary mask......
Or *hint* maybe its because he hit an opposing pitcher with a bat in a brawl once.....

Oleprofessor.....that is good especially since he drove in the winning run with a sac fly, and he didn't have any in real life that season....

The current Game of the Week is a gem. I'll post the link here, but since that's bound to be outdated soon I'll also post the game description from odalisgagne:

I have "played" nearly 140,000 games on this website and I have never ever seen one like this. My Cardinals take a 15-0 lead AND a Frank Castillo no-hitter into the bottom of the 9th against a fatigued Pirates squad and somehow end up on the losing end. Ben McDonald is the goat--singlehandedly allowing 10 runs in the fateful bottom half as the Pirates rally to tie--but don't win in regulation, despite having the bases loaded with only one out. After the shell-shocked Cards go quietly in the 10th, the Pirates complete the miracle comeback on a Vinny Castilla walk-off.

Holy schnikes...no hit for 8 innings, then a complete implosion. Was Gene Mauch managing?

Sparrky must've been up all night smoking skinny cigarettes and partying with Lindsey Lohan and Miley Cyrus!

Combined W-L exactly .500. My managing is officially mediocre, and my teams win exactly as many games as they lose. Believe it or...oh, who am I kidding, this is the most believable thing ever posted on this thread...

Update on the mediocrity report:

My previous four teams are still at exactly .500 collectively. But we are now one game OVER .500 thanks to the Opening Day theme league performance of...the 1960s Mets !
