I currently have an OL team playing at Coors, and 27 games into the season, the team has hit only 20 HRs (only three more than the league average of 17), and 7 other teams have more, even though I'm the only one playing at Coors, 18 of my 27 games have been at home and a have roster that includes sluggers such as 15 Cravath, 95 Bichette, 06 Harry Davis, 41 Jeff Heath and 79 Bob Horner who've all have played regularly.

Crazy, I must admit that you come up with the best of these, as each one you've posted, IMO, is TRULY, something that is VERY difficult to believe.  And speaking of something being hard to believe, (1) I have an OL team which is currently sitting in LAST PLACE practically halfway through the season - of course, you know housecleaning is about to begin - and (2) of all people, its 08 Joss and 10 Russ Ford who are killing the team. Both with ERAs approaching 5.00. lol

A tale of two division rivals, from a 1998 prog.

My team in the Jimmy Carter prog recently clinched its 9th division title.  This tied me with my division rival, cpdpoet, who's also won the division 9 times.  Between us we have 18 AL Central titles -- in prog that's been around for just 19 seasons.  And the one time neither of us won it, back in 1988, my team took the wild card and went on to win the WS.

i had a 1969 phillies replay progressive team go 1-18 in the first 19 games....

since then we've gone 25-17

Fatigue as it plays out in sim effects the player's defense not offense. Using a fatigued player in the field could be disastrous however using him as a dh should have no real significant effect. Is this correct?

Once upon a time, the following thread topics bloomed like perennials on WIS:

1. Where is JohnGPF?
The Judge Crater of WIS, AKA the Missingest Man in SLB, his mysterious disappearance shocked and dismayed the sim baseball nation.  

2. I use the same cookies everyone else uses but I never win, WTF?
Juventino was this genre's undisputed Shakespeare.  Bonus points for hilarity when he acknowledged ripping off another user's World Series winning roster player-for-player -- and then complaining bitterly that his plagiarized team wasn't living up to expectations.

3. Rate my team!
The thread topic equivalent of watching paint dry.  

4. How about this player/strategy?
Most amusing when the person who started the topic then logged in with obvious alias accounts to thank or agree with himself.  

5. I'm leaving WIS and I bid you all adieu
Many moons ago WIS members used to make a big deal about leaving the site, with emotional goodbyes that rivalled Lou Gehrig's "Luckiest Man on the Face of the Earth" speech.  Wonderful, wonderful stuff.

Recently, the forums have been so quiet that I find myself missing some of these topics.

In a 1998 prog I'm in, Greg Maddux just pitched 8 shutout innings in the World Series finale to clinch the championship for his team.  Overall he went 6-1 with a 1.88 ERA in the post-season.  Very nice numbers, but certainly not unheard of.  The thing with Maddux is, he seems to do it every post-season.  Here are his playoff numbers in this prog the past 7 seasons:

1992 -- 5-2, 2.21
1993 -- 7-1, 2.17
1994 -- 2-0, 1.93
1995 -- 3-1, 2.48
1996 -- 7-1, 2.91
1997 -- 6-2, 1.95
1998 -- 6-1, 1.88

Totals: 36-8, 2.23

Keep in mind, these stats were compiled against other playoff teams, not also-rans.  In these 7 seasons, Maddux led his team to 5 World Series appearances and 3 championships.

I got an answer to the JohnGPF question a while back from a friend of his who still plays one of the dynasty games.  He's alive and well in New Orleans, just left the site...

Or possibly he just got tired of answering noob questions and used an alias to keep playing anonymously.

I have Walter Johnson in a progressive and he has been dominant as well.  He's in his 9th season and has a 206-100 record, a 2.65ERA, 1.16WHIP, and a respectable .237OAV.  He's had 30+ wins and less than 10 losses 4 times in the last 5 years.  This is a dual season progress (1901/1961 were the beginning years - currently 1915/1975).  In the playoffs he's been equally as dominant.

3-1
5-1
2-0
6-0

he is 16-2 in the 4 playoffs so far - leading the team to the WS all 4 years and winning it 3 times.  

Both him and this team have some life left (team is currently in 1st this year with a 31-17 record - Johnson is 10-4), so we'll see what else he can do!

Well, since we're all bragging about our prog pitching studs now...

I've had Pete Alexander in a single-season prog for 9 seasons (1911-1919).  During that time he's gone 226-109 -- even more impressive if you discount his abbreviated (by WWI) 1918 "cookie" reliever season, when he went 2-2, which leaves us with a 224-107 record in his 8 full seasons.

Pete's done okay in the post season, too, leading my team to a World Series appearance in 1911 -- as well as World Series championships in 1912, 1913, 1915, 1916, 1917 and 1919!
