LEAGUE NUMBER IS
There have been many great teams that "should" have won a title yet didn't take the final step. This is a league where we'll take 24 of those teams and try to get them over the hump. Here's how we're gonna do it:
Pick a team that LOST in the NBA Finals. You can twist any and all players that played for that team. If you are unfamiliar with the terminology of theme leagues, twist means you can use any season of a player. For example, if you chose the 10-11 Miami Heat, you don't have to use the 10-11 versions of Lebron, Wade, House, etc...
No... this is the guy I want:
...you can use any season you want!
In addition to this, you may help shore up the teams' weaknesses by adding any one player from any season to the roster. So, again, if I have the 10-11 Heat, I can decide to add 63-64 Bill Russell to the squad (if you can make the finances work!).
So, use 11 players from a team that lost in the finals, twist 'em into any combination you feel is best, add one player that didn't play for the team, and see if you can lead the twisted team into the promised land.
Rules:
cap: $52M
WW: no
rookies: hell no
clones: no
Team choices will be drafted, using the results from the previous season. Worst team record picks first... champ picks last. Runner up is next to last, every one else uses regular season record. New owners pick after the champ. Sorry, i know it stinks to be the new guy and do that, but it's pretty much the standard here at WIS. Trust me, I've picked last in many leagues and won, so it's not that big of deal.
Please name your team to suggest the squad you're basing (since all players will be twisted, it'll make this less painful to check rosters). For example, I used '93 Phoenix Suns one season for the 92-93 Suns. Anything is appropriate as long as I don't have to look at your team name for more than 5 seconds to figure out what your team is. Checking rosters in this thing is painful - do me that favor. It's cool if you use an arena your franchise used, though it doesn't have to match up to the particular time period.
Once a team has been redeemed and won a championship, that team is retired from this league. Also, the guest who helped that team to its destiny, is retired (from guesting - he can still be used if he was on a team that lost in the nba finals).
Retired Teams:
1984-85 Boston Celtics
1995-96 Seattle Supersonics
1972-73 Los Angeles Lakers
Retired Guests:
Wilt Chamberlain
Dwight Howard
Lebron James
***When drafting, please remember to
sitemail ahead (both the person who is up and the one after them).
***Also, once someone is skipped while drafting,
you do not have to wait till the next time slot to draft. This is like a real draft... if you miss your slot, too bad. It's your responsibility to get your pick in as soon as you can, not everyone else's to wait on you!
***Once you post a pick,
IT IS FINAL. There is no changing teams half-way through the draft. I can't even begin to explain how unfair changing a draft pick is.
