D3 Rankings - Season 78 - updated 2/22/15 Topic

Yeah.  Now I move my new team down the rankings, lol
12/1/2013 4:12 AM
Time for some updated dynasty rankings, now including seasons 66 through 70.  As always, total points are based on post-season performance the last five seasons and a team has to have made the post-season at least four out of those last five seasons.  Quite a few teams dropped off the list this season due to not making the 4 of 5 requirement.  Pour some out in memory of Tufts, Louisiana, CSU Eastbay, Scranton, Kalamazoo, Concordia, New York U, and Newbury.

I know it's shocking, but Emory still reigns supreme atop the rankings after yet another final four run.  Millsaps switches places with Piedmont after the former went to the final game while the later had to settle for winning the PI.  J-Dub holds steady in fourth place while rounding out the top five HOLY CRAP IT'S WOOSTER, who edged out Wentworth Tech via tiebreaker (most recent season points).  Pretty awesome, I gotta say.

Finally, a big welcome to our new teams in the rankings this time: Dallas, Occidental, Ohio Wesleyan (N.Coast!), and Eureka.

Awesome stuff!  I really can't wait to make this list.  I am aiming for Phalla's (Emory) spot :D  Might take me a while, haha.  t's so cool to see how the conferences and teams grow and shift over time, mad props to pseudo and brian for putting all of these together.

I'm very disappointed in all of you.  Not a single one of you protested when I forgot to update the rankings after last season.  You all should've been like "Hey pseudo, stop being such a lazy and/or forgetful turd and update the damn rankings!"

So I went back and updated the rankings for season 71, I'll update them again for the recently completed season 72 and do another update.  So these rankings cover seasons 67 through 71.  As always, total points are based on post-season performance the last five seasons and a team has to have made the post-season at least four out of those last five seasons.  We lost four teams from the previous rankings due to not meeting the 4 of 5 requirement, send a nice greeting card to Capital, Whitworth, Denison, and Shenandoah.  (Spoiler alert: Capital and Whitworth will be back in the next rankings.)

A couple changes in the top of the rankings this time, though Emory still is tops.  J-Dub moved up to second after a visit to the national final, passing Piedmont and Millsaps.  Wooster is still holding strong in fifth while Lynchburg moved up big after their title and Wittenberg jumped to seventh after a final four appearance.

And a big welcome to our new teams in this set of rankings: Wisconsin La Crosse, Louisiana, Oglethorpe, Hendrix, and Stillman.

Excellent work as always.  I am happy to contribute changing the title each time you make an update.

I am fine with you taking your time with season 72 rankings.... Millsaps was re-building so I'll drop several spots most likely.

FWIW, I did notice the absence of rankings and appreciate your work on it.... just thought you might have needed a break.

I forgot, but during the season felt like a part of me was missing ;) Thanks for filling the void.
4/21/2014 9:20 AM
I delayed posting the season 72 rankings so that I could enjoy a couple more days of being in the top five.  Those were good times.

So now here are the rankings covering seasons 68 through 72.  Once again, total points are based on post-season performance the last five seasons and a team has to have made the post-season at least four out of those last five seasons.  Shed a single tear for the teams that dropped out due to not meeting the 4 of 5 requirement: Southwestern and Ohio Wesleyan.

We have some big changes this time as Emory's five year reign at the top of the rankings comes to an end, partially due to the second of their two straight title seasons dropping out of the five year calculation range.  Taking their spot at #1 is Piedmont on the strength of a national title and two other final four trips the last five years.  Dickinson jumped all the way up to second after their championship run this season, while J-Dub, Emory, and Millsaps round out the top five.  For the record, Wooster is closer to the top five than it is to seventh place Wittenberg.  So there.

Finally, a warm welcome to our new teams in the rankings this season: East Connecticut State, Emory and Henry, Earlham.  And welcome back to Capital and Whitworth after their one season hiatus.

Time for another update to the dynasty rankings, this time covering seasons 69 through 73.  As always, total points are based on post-season performance the last five seasons and a team has to have made the post-season at least four out of those last five seasons.  Please bid a warm farewell to the two teams that dropped out due to not meeting the 4 of 5 requirement: E. Oregon and Stillman.

Once again we have another new name at the top of the rankings as Millsaps jumps up from fifth after brian's glorious first national championship in Rupp.  A few points back is J-Dub who just edged Dickinson for second place.  Piedmont and Whittier round out the top five and let us not speak of the team in sixth place who jumped up ahead of Wooster.

Finally, snaps for our new teams in the rankings this season: Allegheny, Grove City, Transylvania, and Ohio Wesleyan returns after a year absence.  North Coast represents!
