My list shows all the Colonial teams with a C- baseline.

A notch below the MVC and MAC as well as the majority of the CUSA, Horizon and Mountain West schools.
That makes more sense then, they always seem to be harder to get and this list has them at D, which is clearly wrong.

Missouri Valley and Mid-American all at C
Colonial all at C-
Big West and SunBelt: all at D+

the 11 remaining conferences (Big Sky, Big South, Ivy, MEAC, Metro, NEC, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Summit) all at D

Bump. Anyone know if these baseline prestiges are still accurate?

By far the biggest joke is Boston College with an A-minus base prestige.
Never made a Final Four.
Only 3 Elite 8's in their history.
They only draw around 3k to their home games.
They *are* great self-promoters though... they still have people talking about a completed pass in 1984 in a game in November.
Yeesh.

The idea that BC is an A-minus, but Georgetown is a B, is so off-the-charts insane.
The only explanation is that a BC alum developed the prestiges.

I had four straight Elite 8 runs at San Diego State and never got past and A- prestige.

If Baseline Prestige based on real life is going to be part of D1 then it needs to roll with the times AND be long enough to satisfy customers over 30.

New players under 30 will want the teams they see rising up like Wichita State, Butler, Gonzaga, and Houston to benefit. While new players over 30 will want the teams of their youth benefit like UNLV, Temple, Arkansas , and UCLA. Current players will not want it to have a huge impact on their current teams.

Raising the bottom teams in conferences makes sense. There are schools in the conference that would not be there but need to be there for balancing teams and schedule. Each conference team could be given a floor baseline as a group. Say Power 5 conference teams can't get a Baseline Prestige below B-, Mid majors below C-, and Lower D1 D-.

A 30 year rolling baseline updated every June would account for everything. Why can't that be done?

The only update to baseline prestige that should happen is eliminating it. Make it floating, based on the past 20-30 HD seasons, and detach it from real life entirely. If you’re not going to do that, leave it alone.

The worst thing they could do in this regard is start messing with HD teams that have been simulating in their own worlds for 100+ seasons now. Imagine how happy the coach of Illinois is going to be after spending hundreds of dollars and real life years to get an A+ baseline team, just to see HD yank it away because the real life team isn’t all that good anymore.

Baseline Prestige in HD has nothing to do with current reality. And Shoe3 makes a good argument that changing it would not really be a tenable move viv-a-vis the playability of HD. And that goes for floating it, too. Leave it alone. Besides, there are other things worth staff programming time a lot more than this.

"Imagine how happy the coach of Illinois is going to be after spending hundreds of dollars and real life years to get an A+ baseline team, just to see HD yank it away because the real life team isn’t all that good anymore." That applies equally to "yanking" it away and "floating" it away. Either way the artificial elite advantage he worked and paid for is gone.

Floating it just makes it in-game. Based on the last 20-30 years. Sustained success can increase the baseline, sustained mediocrity can decrease it. I don’t think there’s a problem with that concept.
