Player for cash discussion Topic

I am very curious what neutral observers think of this. Some people think cash should be traded some don't. I fall on the side that it can be traded but it should be for players of substance.

This trade was recently vetoed and its caused some discussion. 5mil for the following player, It is about game 65 in the season, so it is not yet the all-star break, and a day or two post Amateur draft.

1) Is this player worth 5mil?

2) Is this a major leaguer?

1) No.  Would you give that guy a $5 mm contract at any point in his career?  I would not.
2) Yes.  Somewhere.  He's the kind of guy I'd fill out my roster with in a re-build.

Trades are supposed to be of somewhat equal value.   Otherwise, you end up with collusive deals being made and worlds going to ****.

So the real question should be:   "What will be done with that 5m?" and "Is Paul Shaw of equal value to that?"

The 5mil would go to a team that spent 27.8m on an IFA signing bonus and now can not afford to sign a first round selection of a pitcher that has multiple time allstar ratings. 75-95 in stamina, control, splits, 1st,2nd pitch.

Wait wait wait, let me get this staight.  So what you're saying is, if Shaw were traded for 5m and the owner simply sat on the 5m for the rest of the season and did nothing with it whatsoever, you would then be okay with the trade?

The HBD gods gave me the power to help decide what's fair when two owners make a deal.   If I know what the cash will be used for, that helps me make a decision on what's fair.

What an owner does with his 185m is something I have no say in.   I do get a say with what he does with "extra" cash.

IOW, I'd want to know your plans for the cash.   If you say "It's my team, I can do what I want" or "I'm not going to do anything with it" or "I don't know", I'll drop a V-bomb on your ***.

Get it?

You drop yours. I'll drop mine.

But, if you're selling a player, I veto anyway.    Lincoln brought war to the US and killed over 600,000 Americans to stop slavery.  You can't sell people.

You can sell contracts

You can put your undies on backwards and try to poop out the pee hole.     Doesn't mean I approve of it.
