Yep.  Internet game-makers strive for silent forums.

This thread should be used as a litmus test for becoming an HBD mentor.

There are experienced owners on both sides of this: bwb, for instance, has 97 seasons.

fair enough.

If I had to read bwb's mind (and I'm sure it would be a pamphlet) he is thinking...

Other team

Pre; 105M salary, 105M salary cap, $80M other budget
Post; 110M salary, 110M salary cap, $80M other budget.

Without realizing
1. Other team still has increased their cap $5M
2. Deal doesn't get done without the cash, thus nullifying his "cash is the same as salary" statement.
3. The "he can't do anything with the $5M" statement probably applies to this scenario. It's moot. He's already done something which is acquire the player he couldn't acquire without the $5M.

On the philosophy side, some say "I want to know what you are doing with the money" and would make their decision based on the answer.

Zero tolerance would say "transfer $10M from prospect if you really want him, sucker"

If you get cash in a trade instead of a player, all you are doing is deferring getting a player until a later date. All that matters is if the trade itself is fair. Obviously if you give away garbage and get cash, then it's going to be vetoed based on unfairness. If you give value and get cash in return, again, why would that be wrong?

This is my philosophy as well. However I hold that cash in very high regard so it has to be something of substantial worth.

I could answer that for the 10000th time, or you could read the 10000 times I've answered it.

It's not right or wrong. It's "why would I give you a cap advantage over me?"

That trade is for suckers. It's why quality leagues have few, if any of them.

You do realize that if you give away a contract that is 5 m, you are gaining 5m in cap space.

You are still stuck on Shaw. It's about a concept concerning the no cash crowd, and how you get around them. had that deal been constucted differently using bad contracts, instead of cash, it would have passed most likely.I know, i've done it, and more than once.Way past Shaw.

No. You can give away a $20M contract, and your cap is still $185M at the end of itm

Instead of looking like a moron, you might want to research what you are saying,

$20M contract.
You are "giving away" the contract.

The team getting the contract;

Pre; $85M salary, $105M salary cap, $80M other budget
Post; $105M salary, $105 salary cap, $80M other budget.

And that is why you usually have no problem with trades where bad salaries are involved instead of cash. The overall cap does not move.

Mike, since you have the ear of Admin, tell them to get their act together regarding the height/weight of the players.  I am sick of guys who are 5'8", 165 lbs smacking 40 homers.
Mel Ott would like to have a few words with you.

Interesting that you believe a simplistic view of cash in trades leads to a "quality" league.
