Most of the pitching bargains are in the 100-150 IP guys, and the under 50 IP guys.  So yeah, that could be OK.

Ok, newbie question regarding the staff you put up.  Catfish and Stan can eat innings and throw a pitch count up to about 115 (?)  Patterson and Burns would be limited and lose stamina quicker, so maybe 75 to 80 pitches per game?  That puts the burden on the pen.  If this is your staff without changes, how will you keep the pen fresh without increasing 2 of four starting pitchers pitch counts?  Thanks!
I actually wouldn't field a team quite like that.  I have too many short IP pitchers, and I'd trade quality for quantity of IP for long A help.

The starters Catfish - Stan - and Burns/Patterson can all go about 90 pitches a game.   Catfish & Stan will pitch every 3rd game, and Burns/Patterson would alternate every 3rd game, so they'd really each pitch every 6th game.

I'd trade out two of the 40-ish IP guys for 100 IP SP in the 1.15 WHIP range ($2.5m each), and cut one 40IP guy.  Net cost is about $1m more, but you have no fatigue issues.

And that team would compete fairly well in most open league settings.

Sounds like an interesting theme league challenge....

$80m league.  $39m  pitching cap (needs to be a bit below 40, 35 also interests me).  All in WIS stadium (neutral).

4 playoff spots in each league

Playoff seeds in each league are:
1 - Most wins
2 - 2nd most wins
3 - Best league pitching roto style ranking (12 points for best:  Total of  WHIP, ERA, HRallow, K/BB ration, and W).
4 - 2nd best in each league in above.

Seed 1 hosts seed 4, seed 2 hosts seed 3.

But I'd spend more than 5 minutes coming up with a staff, you can bet.

Yeah, it sounded enough like an interesting theme that I posted it.   Feel free to enter.

You can count on my team being very different than the one you see here.

I dont understand HOW any team could get by with ONLY a little over 1200 IP? They would all be DEAD before you reach game 100?  With 1200 IP divided by 162 games, gives you an average of 7.4 IP/G, unfortunately regulation games are 9 INNINGS!  Are you just hoping that EACH pitcher can pitch at a 120% their normal rate?  There is a reason that you need about 1500 IP for a season, because with regular & extra inning games you NEED that extra 300 IP total!  Since all of your pitchers (both SP & RP) are going to be tired all of the time, they will get the SNOT beat out of them!  Their ERAs will be up over 6 or 7 (IF not higher) quick as a flash & unless you have an offense capable of scoring 8/9 runs per game, your TOAST!  Your guys look like a team that is certain to lose at least 100 games, probably more!  GL with that!

Nope, I'm far from nuts.  If I played open leagues, I'd probably win at least 1/4 to 1/3 of the ones I played.  I quit when they got boring, and they reduced the prizes for experienced owners to 1/2 of what everyone else gets.

I'll tell you what... talk to me tomorrow.  We'll enter the same open league .  I'll have a team with fewer than 1300 IP.  And I promise not to use the WW to add innings.

BUT... If you're calling me crazy, let's make this interesting.  If I make the WS, you send me a $10 GC.  If I fail to make the playoffs, I'll send you a $10 GC.  If I make the playoffs but fail to make the WS, it's a push (nobody wins).

You want to take that bet?  You don't pay unless I am the best team in my league.  I pay if I'm not good enough to be a playoff team.

Odds are actually a little better for you than normal.  It's been at least 4 years since I played an open league.  To be truthful, I believe the most likely outcome is the "push".

In an open league ud be advised to draft 1200-1250 IP and place them in a pitchers park.  Remember, you get 2 AAA pitchers in an OL that you can use.

I'm pretty sure you could get by with 1200 ip in Coors with smart use of scrubs and AAA.  I did it with room to spare in Hilltop.

I wouldn't try 1200 at Coors. lol
