Preview time!
Lincoln @ St Andrews Presbyterian (-24): Coach detfirecat put Lincoln in the post-season for the first time in 30 campaigns last season, but Lincoln has fallen on hard times this year. Lincoln is still looking for their first win, although covered the spread in their last game by 30 (that they still lost by 36 to #3 Lander is another matter). Detfirecat relies on the backcourt of Eric Brown (11.8ppg), Billy Mckinnell(11.3ppg), and John Burns(8.5ppg) to run the FB/Press attack while the youthful post players develop.
Yaklyn68 has St Andrews off to a 3-1 start, with the sole loss versus ranked W Liberty State. SG Ralph Cox (13.8ppg) leads the way, while SF Dale Faulk & PF Charles Steve each contribute 8.3ppg. Lincoln will have their hands full with St Andrews' flex/zone-press, although the 3 guard attack may help. In their 4 games this season, St Andrews has yet to have a game decided by less than 12 points.
St Andrews has been outscoring opponents by about 15 ppg. Lincoln has been outscored by almost 20 ppg. The Heartland has a tough matchup, as oddsmakers favor the CVAC team by 24.
Anderson @ W. Florida (-37): Rumor has it wildcatjackm is still the coach of Anderson, although only assistants have been seen on the bench this season. Predictably, the team is is in disarray, off to an 0-4 start with the closest margin of defeat being 12 points. The team's man/motion attack features only 10 scholarship players, with SR PG Rodney Britton jacking shots at a furious pace (26.5 ppg), no doubt in an attempt to get a look from the CBA/Europe/your local rec league. PF Richard Rozanski chips in 13.5 ppg.
Caesari has W Florida off to an excellent 3-1 start this year, including a win over ranked W Liberty State. Their man/motion attack is fairly balanced, with 4 starters scoring at least 8 ppg, lead by SF Steven Fagan (12.8 ppg), and PG Vernon Royster (12.0 ppg). This is one of the best starts caesari has had with W Florida and they look to make it 4 wins in a row tonight.
With Anderson in shambles, W Florida should be licking their chops. Oddsmakers like the Heartland team by 37 in a potential rout.
No conference has more wins that the CVAC's 32 this season. The Heartland is tied for 6th with 28. Let the Challenge begin!!!
