Has anyone ever noticed in defensive play in the RF spot between similarily rated defensive players with opposite throwing hands?

I have 2 OFs

Right handed throwing 69 63 48 52
Left handed throwing    71 40 71 58

I think Id prefer the better arm in RF (lefty) but if anyones noticed a difference I would put the lefty in LF, where they normally go.

I don't think throwing hand matters for OF.

Tec's right.

But, why would the lefty go in LF "normally"?

Just a guess, but I think he means that there are not too many lefty fielding right fielders in MLB.

Ichiro being one.

Heyward is another.

Oh yeah, DeJesus played some right field for KC.

Okay, maybe there are plenty of lefty fielding right fielders in MLB.

Is that because there's some inherent disadvantage or has it just worked out like that?

I can't imagine that the footwork is all that different for either hand to throw to 2nd/3rd/home.   I've played both as a RH and never felt "uncomfortable" out there.

Pretty sure Ichiro throw righty.   But Swisher is a lefty.

The more I think about it the dumber I sound:  Ethier, Swisher and Choo are all regular right fielders who field left handed.  So, yeah, disregard.

Right, Ichiro does field righty.  I just saw that dude a couple days ago, definitely fields right handed.  My friend and I even had a conversation on the lefty hitting/righty fielding phenomenon among Yankees players (Cano, Ichiro).

I cannot imagine it makes much difference.  The only thing I can think of is that your glove hand is already pointed toward the foul line if you field righty in RF and lefty in LF, but that cannot matter much because you still need to get your glove hand the other way for balls hit to your right (in RF).

Positioning solves that.    If you can't get to balls on the line because you have to reach across your body, you move a step.   Not that there are that many balls hit right on the line anyway.   OF is so different than the IF.   You can make several steps in adjustments and still be in good shape to make a play.

Two so-so guys that played RF and threw lefty - Babe Ruth and Tony Gwynn.

In hbd, isn't lefty only a problem at 2b, not other if?
