Not sure if schwarze was intending to do a comparison or not, but I thought it would be interesting to see who got the most out of their Silver King.

Mine ended up with 96 games, all starts. 47-31 record, 719.2IP, 3.81 ERA, .274 OAV, 1.34 WHIP, 1.98 K/9, 2.15 BB/9. I definitely noticed a decline when I started him below 85%, but he still didn't get rocked much in those games.

83 G, 82 GS, 619 IP
49-18, 3.16 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, .263 OAV

I left a lot of his IP on the table, obviously, but that was more or less the plan for this team from the get go.  He only appeared in 16 games where he was less than 100 fatigue, and never less than 90.

And won the Cy Young award.

I tried to shift more money to offense, but Mathewson crapped the bed for me. He never started at less than 100% and only gave me a 1.34 WHIP. I needed him to be a stud and he didn't provide it.

81G, 81 GS, 706.0 IP, 49W-27L, 3.38 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, .268 OAV, Cy Young Winner.  Had 3 shots at W50 but just could close it out.
9/29/2012 11:24 PM
82G, 82S 702.3IP 48-31
3.31ERA 1.25WHIP .251OAV

I imagine everyone who won significantly more than they lost ended up with very similar King performance.

83 games, all starts, a league leading 718 IP (only one to reach 700), 46 wins (leader had 49), 1.30 WHIP, and 3.55 ERA. Which got him the CYA for my league.

I'd be curious to see the performances from those who played in my recent 700 IP challenge league vs those who didn't.
9/30/2012 12:23 AM
The biggest thing I learnt in that 700IP league was that I needed to bring 08 Joss to do work during the playoffs...

e: 6 players who participated in that league are in the WISC. We were pretty evenly distributed between 91 and 103 wins with Silver King teams.

I'm surprised that King pitched that few innings and had to pitch below 100% at any point, contrarian.  Was that innings total a typo?

81 games, 81 GS, 692.1 IP, 2.44 ERA, .229 OAV, 1.10 WHIP.  Never once pitched below 100%
9/30/2012 10:51 AM
Nope.  I think it's two things:

1.) King had a much higher WHIP (1.26 vs 0.88) compared to real life, meaning he was facing a lot more batters and throwing many more pitches per inning.  I sat him quite a bit the last 15 games of the season, but his pace for most of the season was at or above his real life BFP totals.

2.) I think that the "tired from recent game activity" model is more sophisticated than has been previously discussed on this site (including the long thread I wrote on the subject).  I used mostly a 2-man rotation with King and Joss, with King set to 90 and Joss to 95.  As the season went on, King would often start 2, 3, or even 4 games in a row while Joss recovered, and in most instances where he was starting a 3rd or 4th consecutive game, he was below 100%.  I am not yet sure of how the math works.

9/30/2012 11:18 AM
Ah, starting multiple games in a row would explain it.

I could show a table of all 96 Silver Kings, but I would need somebody in each of the other three leagues to do a player searc on King, copy/paste the results into a spreadsheet and email it to me.  I can't seem access this table for other leagues.  [email protected]
