Pau needs to get the surgery  and shitcan the season and Dwight needs to decide he can play with pain

It's going to be epic if Dwight leaves in the offseason.

S&T to Atlanta for Horford, Teague and picks, that's fine -- they can still make one last run with Kobe, Nash, Pau and then next summer have Horford, Teague, Clark, Hill picks and 2+ max contracts worth of cap space to work with - maybe even convince Kobe to come back at pennies on the dollar

Atlanta can sign Dwight outright, I think. No reason to give up assets for him.

really? I can think of at least 20 million reasons why

Agreed....but that'd be a ton to give up (ATL's trade assets).

Howard has really hurt his value.  Between his antics and his injuries, his value is about 3/4 of what it used to be....if not worse.

Boston needs him the most with their lack of boards.  He'll be a legit double -double .500 guy for a few years.  If Boston wants to take a shot while Pierce is still on the court, they should try him.

he's a legit 17-20ppg & 9 or 10 boards guy right now in the right system and enough touches so yeah he could help boston - boston does not have the pieces however - no one wants to pay jeff green 8m per for the next 4 years
Pau's days of being a 17+/9+ player on a title contender are done.

With the cap space ATL will have next season, they'd be stupid to do a S&T.

Agreed....the thing is though, Howard can next 1 year and $20m more signing with LA.

you must just have gotten back from overseas and missed the last two weeks of Pau doing just that when allowed to play at his natural position

this - it's not about Atlanta choosing, it's Howard's choice

It's actually an extra year and $30 million more overall.

Unless everything completely goes south and the Lakers just don't want him back or he doesn't want to come back, I have a hard time seeing him leaving LA without a S&T.  He's a big man coming off of back surgery and a rash of injuries this year - that extra guaranteed money is going to be huge in his decision.  Which means ATL would be stupid to do a S+T, unless they actually want to acquire Dwight Howard.

They could do a sign and trade that made more sense from the Hawks side. LeBron left the Cavs in a very unpopular way and they still did a sign and trade that got him more cash and only netted draft picks. Giving up Horford in a deal would be absurd.

If Lakers refused to do a sign and trade that didn't include Horford/Teague, would Howard really elect to stay in a place he doesn't want to be, and continue to be Kobe's punching bag, because they can give him the most cash?

Doing it for a couple of weeks isn't the same as for an entire season and the Lakers aren't going to contend for a title this season.

It is Howard's choice of whether to stay with LA.  It's also ATL's choice to not make a bad deal.
