croker, here would be my recommendation: since most all worlds are not well populated right now its hard to find a funnest world. Fun in this game usually comes in numbers. Numbers corralate to activity. So what I would do is find a conference that is quite full and active. You are just starting out so you are still in D3. I haven't played much D3 in years so I wouldn't have a clue where to send you but maybe some others can lead you in the right direction. Once you find a fun conference to be in you can then follow the other conference boards in that world to see where you might want to land on the way up the ladder. 1A in all worlds is where you will find the most coaches and activity. But you have a lot of work to do before you will be in 1A. GL.
