Boehner Would Accept New Revenue Under ‘Right Conditions’

U.S. House Speaker John Boehner said Republicans would be willing to accept new tax revenue to reduce the nation’s budget deficit if it’s accompanied by a tax overhaul and changes to entitlement programs.

Speaking in Washington a day after President Barack Obama’s re-election, Boehner of Ohio said all sides are “closer than many think” to being able to revise the tax code.
 

“Shoring up entitlements and reforming the tax code -- closing special interest loopholes and deductions, and moving to a fairer, simpler system -- will bring jobs home and result in a stronger, healthier economy,” the speaker said, according to a prepared text.

“Mr. President, this is your moment,” Boehner said, according to the text.

Boehner called for bipartisan negotiations to avert the fiscal cliff of tax increases and spending cuts scheduled to begin in January. He emphasized Republican opposition to raising tax rates.

I actually don't think they can kill the tea party because the base is so conservative at this point. It's fun watching them lose senate races every time because of it.

I heard talk like this in 2008.  And then 2010 happened.  Oh, and that House is still that House.  But just ignore that.

Oh, and guess what geniuses.  O has already spent.  There's pretty much no more money to spend.  He'll be confused because all he knows how to do is spend money unwisely.

what i find amusing from reading sites like Red State, is the number of people who refuse to think that the message is the reason they lost...it's always something else...the media, the polls, the candidate's campaign, etc. But never the message. Nope...nothing wrong with what we think, everyone loves that....it always something else.

Demographics is a relentless *****.

Bachmann...won barely....Allen West...well that crazy town train has left. How did the Tea Party Senate candidates do?

Face it, the Rs got smoked in the Senate races...the Ds had to defend what 21, 23 seats to 10 for the Rs? And ended up +2? 2014 will be 20 Dem - 13 Rep.  including the Deep South. Demographics are inexorably moving away from the white male.....

so if i was a cynical democrat with a republican attitude toward elections

i would drag my feet on that whole immigration reform thing

sound like i want it, work subterfugeous against it

that gets you 3/4 of the ever growing **** vote ten or twenty years into the future
