The point doesn't stand at all. You have this narrative where people are called morons because they're conservative. And yet one of you're examples is a socialist. Maybe conservatism isn't the common thread.
Again I put the wrong person in.

My point is that the main conservative is going to get flack from the left,

We can call it the Palin Principle.

Or maybe people saying dumb **** will catch flak.

Yeah, Palin Principle fits.

Is there room for MikeTard in this poll?

Again, I don't think, despite being Czar of Everything, you get to determine a "marginal tax" for someone else.   Say it's 3% after 250k.   Guy makes 350k.   3k extra in taxes.   Not sure he thinks it's "marginal".    He earned the money, you did not.   Seems like he has a better feel for "marginal" with his money.

Again, is there room for MikeTard?

Absolutely. I love that his example is the very definition of a marginal tax increase. If it was just a 3% increase overall, the guy would be paying $7500 more in taxes.

Every politican will occasionally slip up.

Only Conservatives get bashed no end for it.

I call BS on that...

Do the words "it depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is" sound familiar to you?
2/26/2013 1:44 AM
"I did not have sexual relations with that woman."
2/26/2013 1:46 AM
That wasnt just a gaffe. That was a cover up of an actual incident.

"I am not a crook" isnt the same as "All 57 states".

Obama has committed FAR less verbal gaffes than Bush, or even Palin.  That's not really all that important, at least not from my perspective.  But it's still a fact...

Certainly, the fact that the media in general tends to lean left does tend to give mistakes made by conservatives a little more airtime/press than mistakes made by liberals, but it's not the size of discrepancy that you seem to believe.  You haven't seen people consistently making fun of Biden and his verbal miscues?  Including such "liberal outlets" that you have repeatedly criticized as Saturday Night Live and the Daily Show?  Obama doesn't get the heat for accidentally adding 10 states that Bush did for all the ridiculous things he said in the spur of the moment because, off the top of my head, he's made maybe 2 such mistakes.  Bush made dozens.  Palin made at least a dozen, probably dozens.  So they get made fun of.  If you do anything in the public eye you have to anticipate that.  Goes with the territory.  You'll likely get the same types of things from a guy like Chris Christie, because he likes to speak extemporaneously and doesn't always lean on the speechwriters as much as most other prominent politicians.  Most Republicans and a number of Democrats really like that about him, but it does tend to lead to repeatably miscues.  You don't get it from Romney, but he's boring as hell.  Obama manages to come somewhere in between - not exciting, but much less boring than Mitt, and without a lot of mistakes.  Reagan was the king of speaking, totally charismatic and often "felt" off the cuff, but he still didn't leave the quotable mistakes.

Anyway, long story short, it's not really the media, it's the reality of the fact that recent Republican leadership has said more stupid things than Obama or Gore or John Kerry.

Of course, Gore and Kerry fell into the Romney boring category...

So lets examine 2 specific gaffes and the media response...

Romney's 47% vs Obama's "Guns and God".

The 47% was shown everywhere and was made into a major issue that everyone heard about, not just in the news but in comedy bits.

Guns and gods was almost ignored by the media and if you dont watch Fox News you probably didnt hear about it.

Why?

Complete bullshit.

"They cling to guns or religion" comment was everywhere. Every news channel slammed him for it. Hillary slammed it for it (it was still during the primaries) and McCain slammed him for it.

Sorry, I don't rely on government spending to prop up the economy.

The "Socialism Experiment" thread might need it's own "Dumbest MikeT comment" poll in a few days.

Of course it is true.

The money that the government spends is taken out of the economy, and then put back in with all the waste and bureaucracy in place so we lose a large percentage.

This is robbing from peter to pay paul and losing 40% on the way!
