Two Man Band - non-HoF - FULL - round 2 picks Topic

LEAGUE NUMBER - MLB 104189

The Two Man Band is a crazy league with one simple rule:  you can only draft ONE pitcher and ONE position player for your team, and use a total of 25 different seasons from their careers to make up your roster.  Whatever position player you draft -- a speedster or a slugger or a utility man -- he's got to play all eight positions in the field.  You might think twice about taking someone like Ted Williams, who no matter how often he gets on base, could not overcome making hundreds of errors per season in the field in this league.

This year, we will limit the field to players who are NOT in the Hall of Fame, to disqualify most of the usual suspects.  We'll also have a supplemental blacklist of two:

Tim Raines - who has performed too well in past leagues, and who really SHOULD BE in the Hall of Fame, and
Bob Caruthers - just to be sure somebody doesn't figure out how to make his two-way skills work here.

The draft is very simple for this league, it's a snake-style draft of two rounds.  You can name your position player OR your pitcher when you sign up, or anytime after that ... but the sooner you pick your first man, the longer you'll have to wait to choose his teammate.

Sign ups start now.  I'll choose twelfth.  Hope my intended player is still available.

P.S.  I thought of this twist on the league when I saw someone start up a "Pete Incaviglia league" and I couldn't stop laughing at the thought of Inky playing all eight positions.  Alas, he doesn't have enough PA's to compete here, and I shudder at the thought of him trying to play shortstop while fatigued.

Kenny Lofton, please. Damn shame that he fell of the ballot in his first eligible year.

bheid408:  There is no salary cap in this league.  You just can't use the same season of your chosen players twice ... you have to fill out the roster with different seasons of their careers.  Depending on the players you pick, you can get up in the neighborhood of $200 million with Hall of Famers, but I don't know how the non-Hall players will work out there.
