Isn't Alston's bat good enough to play on a daily basis? Why can't he play 1st?
He's got a great bat, but Mike's setup provides you with a much better defensive team which will help your pitching a lot.
As I've mentioned he is a great PH, and when Alfonzo needs rest (and he will) Alston isn't a big drop.

I wouldn't trade him because he is 27 and Manuel and Alfonzo are both much older, so at some point he will be an every day 1B or LF.

But Mike is right in that at 27 and with that bat he'd probably garner a pretty solid SP

What I see with Alston is a career at 1B.   With Manuel there for the next 4+ seasons, he's a man without a position.

THis RF theory is interesting. SO does HBD just completely lie about the needed minimums for RF then?

So I'm going to accept that trade then. I'll get a SP4 and decent prospect.

ANd if I move Duckworth into a SubA, I'll 2 subA's. Is that ok? Who will close the games then?

Gorkys Mangual is the SS I'd go after.

Moises Encarnacion is the other guy.

I meant like who will AI choose to end the games? Which pitcher will be pitching last?

No, they aren't lying.  The 8 range, 20 glove will NOT be as efficient as a 70/70 guy.   However, because there are considerably less plays to be made in RF, it's worth it if you have a big bat almost C with a decent arm.    Burns will cost you 40ish good plays per 162 games.    But you can make those up elsewhere, and if the bat's good enough, he'll cover them by himself.

Different guys at different times. Closer by committee basically.

Washington has two strong defensive SS in AAA. He's got a .500 team. You could probably get either SS for Oliver or Diaz.

Worth trade chatting with him about for sure.
You may even be able to get a low inning RP in the deal with WASH

Reggie Smith for example.

So a DH (Who could play catcher poorly) with a good bat can make up for his errors alone? Interesting. IF I acquired a better RF, would I then shift Burns back to DH? Should I put Alston as my new DH then?

Didn't realize you were AL.   Yeah, Alston can DH.   Or use Burns at DH with Diaz in RF if you trade Alston.

Would he be able to fetch anything on the market instead of Alston?
